Everytime you take it outside, take it to that one place and when it gets done, make sure you give it lots of praise.

Taking the puppy to same each time especially after eating or waking up, be patient and reward puppy and give it a lot of praise. It will learn pretty fast what is expected from it. Also it will smell the area and return there to do its business. If it should slip up and go somewhere else say no in a firm tone and take it back to where its suppose to go. Good Luck puppies are such fun. Love my dogs!

Depending on the size of the dog, feed and water him, wait 5-10 minutes, take him to the location you want him to go, when he relieves himself both ways, bring him back inside your home reward him with a treat or a friendly game of fetch with his favorite toy. Eventually (usually 1-2wks depending on the breed) he will let you know when its time to go, until then do not leave water or food out so he doesn't have any accidents. If he has an accident clean the area thoroughly, then completely soak it in hand sanitizer so he doesn't return to it. (It kills the odor causing germs and bacteria that makes them return to it.)

Along with the other suggestions, you can wait for a poo and then pick it up, using a plastic bag, and move it to the area you want the dog to go to. Dogs need to associate an area with their own poo scent. Of course, remove the poo from your yard every few days. It won't take long for the dog to know that is where you want him/her to go.

Start by taking her to where u would like her to poop. When she goes there, praise her well. If she goes in the house, again take it outside to where u want her to go. Repetition and consistancy is the key

Take the dog outside to the spot, right after he/she ate and wait when he/she finally does go praise him/her A LOT i mean over enthusiastic so he/ she knows he/she did a good job and your Very happy with him/her. Your dog wants to please you and he/she'll want to do it again.
just keep repeating that whe he/she eats or looks like they have to go
