I think they're wonderful, too! Some people think I'm crazy when handle them or stop to observe them, but I love insects, and I like to study them and learn their patterns of behavior. They are quite remarkable creatures.

Some insects are harmful to humans and destructive, so people often associate them in a negative light. Many people are fearful of insects who sting or bite, even to the point of phobias. Some cannot help but cringe when spotting an insect.

It's kind of sad, actually. Most insects are actually quite beautiful, helpful, and harmless to man. The importance of insects on our planet cannot be overstated. They are a major part of our plant's ecological health.

Maybe it's a cultural thing...your questions actually got my attention because I've never really thought WHY I don't like bugs...I just dislike them and maybe it's because all throughout my life I've been taught they're disgusting and I have seen how people's reactions are toward insects so I just copied their reactions and made it part of my experience as I was growing up.
Well...I guess I don't like them because they're usually small and annoying, although they can be BIG for being insects!!... they're just disgusting because of the way they sound and how shiny and greasy they could look sometimes...I don't know they're just weird, but I'm not going to kill them I just try to put them outside my house, if they won't get out then I'll leave that part of the house until I forget they're there...I like them away from me. :)

Honestly I don't know how insescts recieved such negative connontations. In general, most people dislike biting or stinging insects such as ants, bees, or mosquitos, and then of course there are the germ carrying insects such as the cockroach, and then the disease-carrying insects such as ticks. Oh, and did I forget the insects that latch onto you and suck your blood such as chiggers and ticks? Oh wait, maybe that's why no one likes bugs.

Should we care what other people think? I love the little guys to bits. Lesson: Bark spiders. She spins intricate webs at sunset and removes them at dawn. You can actually see the body swell as she eats her own web.... every last bit of it. Perhaps the polluters should take a leaf from her book.

I just found a huge spider in my laundry.

I squashed it because I'm not that good at catching them and I didn't want it biting me or my kids or laying eggs in the house.

Maybe if they didn't bite, and they purred, I'd feel differently.

I like bugs, just not in my house. I always feel bad after killing them. Except for mosquito's (because they love me), flies, and fleas. I never have remorse for them.

Me, too. I don't kill them, just trap 'em & put 'em outside.
I'd never deliberately step on a bug.
