I am fostering a kitten around 5 months old. She is a dark gray kitten. I have to come up with a name for her. Any suggestions would be wonderful.

She is very loving, always wants to be petted. She purs all the time. She is skinny right now, but she will be normal size before she goes up for adoption.

How about Misty (as in dark grey fog..) or you could name her Penelope. Penelope is the name of Garfield's girlfriend kitty who is also a gray kitty. Just a suggestion.
Good luck with your fuzzball!! :D

I have 2 blue (gray) cats. I wanted a name for my female that reflected a southern theme, so I called her Bonnie Blue (from Gone With the Wind). The male is a stray, and it took forever to find a name that suited him...he is called Dusty. However, you shouldn't let color dictate your choice. You need to find a name that you feel suits the cat. And, remember, since this kitten is a foster, you may find that the adopters have a completely different name in mind!

Check out these names:

I'm imagining kittens just reading some of these words. This is something you can use for the future. I love using tools like this to find good names.
Some of my favorites here are: Ashen (though this sounds kind of mascuilne), Cinereal, Miasma, Lackluster (though I'm not sure why I'm attracted to this one), and Smog (my nickname for this would probable be Smog-Muffin, but that could just be me).
If you click on any of those names from the website, you'll find a whole new list of words that could be used as names.

I've always thought it to be rather uncreative to name a cat based on its color.
Being that you are fostering, theme names might be interesting, as I would expect quite a few animals to be passing through as time goes by.
Otherwise, get a feel for her personality. What seems natural when talking to her or playing with her? Most importantly, what will she answer to? :)

I'd stay away from the cliches. I named my dark grey kitten Lucy. (Her brother is white and named Linus) I personally like giving my cats a more human name because their personalities are very human. Good luck with coming up with something!

If she were mine, I'd be considering names like Stormy, Sharquita (Gray like a shark but a girl), Coal or maybe Coalette. Or just a beautiful name not related to her color like Bella ( I think that's Italian for beautiful). Good luck!
