Don't get a dog online. Ever. You don't know what you're actually getting-- you might get a sick dog that ends up with $1000 of vet bills. ALWAYS see the dog before you buy it-- especially for $400.

Go to a local animal shelter and get an animal that would otherwise be killed. Pounds have lots of cute puppies for under $50 and if they're not adopted they euthanize them. They need homes or they will die. Plus they are already fixed and have all of their shots. They need to be taken home. You can play with them and pick the perfect one-- instead of taking a wild guess and hoping that internet company is legitimate. Please reconsider and save a life instead!

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER buy a dog on-line from a picture! The ad screams; THIS IS A SCAM. First, a reputable breeder would never sell a puppy at 7 weeks, and certainly not for that price (including shipping)!

You can find a great puppy at a local animal shelter for a lot less money, and YOU get to pick it out! Not to mention you would be saving a life...which is great. You may even find a purebred at the shelter.

If you have your heart set on a purebred dog (whatever the breed) visit: www.akc.org The AKC site even has a directory of breeders and I bet you can find one in your area. This way you will get to see the parents and all the puppies. You might also go to your local book store and get the AKC Book of Dogs. That way you can research the breeds you are interested in. Read the "standard" and you will know what to look for when you see a litter of puppies.

You may also have a dog club in your area, and this would be an excellent place to learn about dog breeders, obedience training, etc. Call a couple of local vets and ask if they know of a dog club near you.

Do some serious research BEFORE you get a puppy and both you and the puppy will be off to a good start. Good luck.

Please do not buy a dog offline unless you have thououghly checked the breeder. Do your homework and know about training and breed personalities so you can calmly descuss thier concers. This will likely help you more than anything to convince them.

Try rescue organizations for the breed you want. The dogs may be out of the puppy stage, but they are coming from people who care and you will know some medical history. www.petfinder.org connects most if not all shelters and rescue organizations in the united states (and possibly beyond). You can search for a specific type of dog.

Go to a local dog show or other type of competition to see many different breeds in action. Most owners will be happy to answer any questions you have. Just because the breed you pick out is cute, it does not mean that it will fit with your family or with your personality. There are also breed selectors where you answer questions and they indicate what breeds may fit your life best. Try these sites:

http://www.selectsmart.com/DOG/

Why don't your parents want you to have a Doxie? Have they had a bad experience with one. I cannot imagine anyone having a problem with a Doxie. I have a pure-bred AKC doxie and a Doxie-mix from the pound. Both are amazing. They are ridiculously smart, sweet tempered, playful and clean!

Ask your parents to look at books about Dachshunds. You all need to research the breed and decide together. There are more important things than just being cute. You need to make sure the dog will fit your lifestyle.

Dachshunds are amazing! I usually love big dogs, but I am officially addicted to Doxies!

Go to your local shelter instead.

If you knew where that puppy came from, and that if you buy her you are adding to suffering of hundreds more dogs, would you still buy her?

Take a look at some of the photos and information on this site http://www.prisonersofgreed.org and then tell me buying that puppy is right.

We need to stop buying puppy mill puppies, when the money is gone, the mills will be gone.

You might have to choose another dog. Do a search on line for different breeds. Also check out animal shelters.

Wow. way too cute.. But sure sounds like a scam to me!
Your parents are right to say no..7 weeks is too young, xx-tiny is too small and $400 w/ shipping.. And a breeder that ships world wide.. Wow.. Can you say RED FLAG..

I suggest that you research the breed and record all of the pros of the breed eg. good temperment, doesnt bark much etc. Then write a report or a letter addressing all of the pros. Hopefully if you prove to them that daschunds are a good breed they will let you get that particular pup. Good Luck!
