I found a female kitten. She is around 4 or 5 months old. She is skinny. I took her home and put her in my bathroom. I gave her food, water, litter box, and a blakent to sleep on. Her eyes are clear, but she seems to have some congestion. I going to give her to a cat rescue in the morning. But is there anything she will need before then? She has something sticky on her fur. I am afread of washing her up because of her congestion problem. Should I let the cat rescue see the residue on her fur, or should I clean her?

I found her in the parking lot at work. She was trying to get into the trash can. She seems to be friendly.

Good job helping her out. If you want just take a warm wet cloth and wipe her off, bathing her would be too traumatic, but I say its better to get the stuff off her fur in case its something that might make her sick if she licks it off.. Alot of times cats get motor oil etc on their fur from hiding under cars, if she was in a parking lot thats likely what it is... it would be best to clean it off so she doesnt get sick. Getting her wet wont hurt her, just make sure to maybe dry her off or wrap her in a towel and cuddle her till shes dry. Also pat yourself on the back for having the heart to help a poor kitty off the streets.

Not knowing what the residue is its hard to say but I would wait until the cat rescue came. If she ate ok she should be fine. Cats like to be left alone especially when in new environments so don't keep checking on her but maybe every few hours. Also keep the toilet lid shut. Giving her a bath would be to much stress on her.

I really dont think you should do anything... the kitten should be brought to a rescue center/or a vet ASAP. do not clean
her because you may iritate her skin. bring her to a vet or rescue center tomorrow and think...

Do you really want to give up this helpless kitten? if i were you i would have got her to the vet and then kept her....
but that is only because i am in love with any kind of animal.

I hope the cat rescue where you are taking her is a no-kill shelter. Otherwise, you'd better leave the poor kitty alone. She didn't ask to be killed, she asked for some food and affection.

Best to find her a good home as she may be put down in the animal shelter.
