You should see your vet. There's only a short window of time where you can get their ears cropped, and it's when they're pretty young. Once their ears' cartilage stops growing and strengthening, it's too late. You can get it done at the vet's office.

Depends on the vet.. Some won't do it past 12 weeks some will do it up to 16 weeks ( YIKES) There are BAD vets that will do it after 16 weeks, but it's likely the ears won't stand at all when you do it that late.

You should research vets in your area if you really want to get the ears done.. There are good ear croppers and there are butchers. Talk to others in the area that have dogs w/ cropped ears that you like, find out who did their ears..

It is hard on the dogs, and don't let anyone tell you that it isn't.. It is surgery.. Much longer surgery than just a spay or neuter.. There is alot of blood loss.. There is no reason to crop the ears unless you are trying to look like a tough guy.. Or if you fight your dog.. It is easier to socialize a dog with natural ears as people are more inclined to help you by approaching you and your dog and helping to show the dog that people are good.. I think it's a bad idea..

Edit : The ears are NOT cut off using NO pain killers.. That is ridiculous.. It's just like any other surgery, the dog is put under with proper anesthesia, and the ears are done.. Only some backalley fool is cropping ears without anything for pain or anesthesia.. Do some research before you make statements about something you don't know about..

Who would be cruel enough to hurt a puppy? That's vanity-- cropping ears does not help the dog in any way-- it helps the owner because they think it's "cool". It's called "animal abuse". Do the dog a favor and realize what you're about to do causes a lot of undue pain.

Would you like your ears cut half off just because someone decided it would make you look better? That's a pretty rotten thing to do to any animal.

EDIT: I've seen people do some pretty bad things to animals without painkillers. Including cropping ears.

Why crop their ears? People only crop pit bull's ears to make them look cool or mean. It is unnecessary and painful. Just leave their ears the way they are supposed to be....natural.

I don't know of any vet that will do this after 12 weeks of age. Either way, it's painful for the pup. Why not leave the ears natural?

One of our pitbulls' ear was cropped when it was five months old, when it should have been done on its fourth month.
