I adopted my chihuahua yesterday and she just got spayed. Will her personlaity change when she is healed? When they first took her out of her kennel, she turned out to be super hyper and a very jumpy and needy dog. When she is recovering , she turned out to be a very calm dog who is very sweet and follows you around. Did the spaying change her personality?

on protecting the right s of Children as they have these dogs of Vick's there might not be so many children killed as a result of neglect and domestic violence.

Although I am not a "pet person" and I do like animals and don't like to see them harmed, but I do like human beings more. So why don't we see such an uproar when our children are dying at a much faster rate/

I am taking my Chi to the vet this saturday for his first check up cause i just adopted him. When i adopted my cat, i remember they prescribed medicine for ear/eyes/cold and it wound up costing me $350. I got a certificate from the SPCA that covers the cost of the office visit, so my question is, say the vet says he has mites/a cough/cold... can i tell him that i dont want him to prescribe medicine to him and that i simply want the office visit check up ?

What are some Cute Little Baby Yorkie Female names?
So far I've come up with Bubbles,Ruffles, and Daisy.
I would prefer one that starts with a "D"because all of my other dogs names, start with "D".

Thanks!

I just got a 9 week old Rottweiler. I have an 8 year old Rottie so I know quite a bit about them. My question is this..this puppy has pooped and peed in her crate and then laid in it so we took her out and now let her sleep in our bathroom at night which has been working out lovely. Last night I noticed she was trying to EAT her poop and LICK her pee. That is totally disgusting. I have never heard of an animal doing such a thing...Could this be normal ? I have heard of a dog trying to eat cat poop or something but never her own...

I've had my puppy, Jetta, who is an aussie mix at 9 weeks old, for 2 nights and 3 days so far. My mother wants her to be kennel trained but when I put her in it she whines and cries non-stop. I know you're not suppose to give them attention because it shows they can whine and get what they want. (So I've heard...)
I've tried putting her in my room so she can see me but it drives me mad! I also tried the ticking clock thing and it didn't work.
Will she eventually stop whining once she's used to the kennel?

She whines sometimes even when I'm standing right next to her. I've been reading up on dog books and I'm not sure what to do. Is she whining because she misses her brothers and sisters? Do I give her attention even then?

Also, ANY advice on kennel training would be great! Where we bought her from, the previous owner had her sleep in a kennel but it was with her brothers and sisters.

What is the healthiest, safest cat food to buy that is also low in cost?

Cuz labs and golden retreivers are naturally working dogs and st. bernards are rescue dogs.

If you don't put them to work but pay attention to them with love affection and give them exercises, would it be ok?

Why or why not?

I live with my grandparents and we recently lost a puppy (she was hit by a car). We have lots of left over puppy chow and I have a rat terrier, who's about 7 years old. My grandparents feed my dog the puppy chow and I've noticed a slight weight gain with him. I then found out that puppy chow is high in fat so now I'm worried. How bad is puppy chow for my 7 year old little dog?

HI. I have been asking similar questions re this..but this is really bugging me and I'm so scared as to what to do. Provisionally I have my 9 month old dog booked in to get spayed next week..as she has not gone into her first season yet.
When I was younger, I remember vets always wanting a dog to have at least one season prior to spaying. I realise that, medically, things evolve over the years etc.. however one vet said to me that that they would only do after first season. One said defo before and some others say it doesn't matter??!?! So i'm so confused! I want the best for her..and I know alot of people say definetely do it asap..however I'm just wondering if anyone knows why it has changed and if I allow her to have her first season is that causing her any harm??

Please help..I really don't know what to do for the best..and that's all I want to do:-(

Also..what is the approximate recovery period for them after the op.

Thanks for all your help :-)
