we do not know how to take care of it, we found a large shoe box with holes in it and put it there with parakeet food and water next to it , it seems to be ok and is drinking the water. We also put it in an air conditioned room. What else should we do??????????

Something similar to this happened to me before, but instead of finding it in the street, my wife noticed a bird in a tree in our yard. I think it was a cockatoo, I'm not sure, but it was definitely a pet bird, not a wild one. Anyway, she opened the window, and the bird flew right into the house!

The thing you should do first is call the local newspaper and place a "bird found" ad. That's what we did, in an effort to find the owner. Usually a paper will let you place an ad like this for free. Just make sure not to describe the bird in the ad, let the people that call do that so you know if it's really their bird.

He will need more room. You should find someone with a cage or get your dad to make a temporary cage until you find the owner. If you cannot find the owner you may want to keep it. They are great pets

My name is Heidi. My grandmother's bird had disappeared july 21st we live in Bremerton Washington her name is Elvira. Grandma would tell her that she is a "good girl," in response Levi would say pretty bird, that's about the only thing she wanted to say she wasn't much of a talker but she loves dancing to music as well as screaming cawcawcaw to encourage her for more of her voice I would loudly tell her yea yeah please contact my grandmother @360-627-8482 that is our home phone....thank you for your time.

Put an ad in the paper, or check the classifieds - it may have accidentally escaped from someone's home.

Get a nice size cage, I don't think it needs air conditioning.
