My sisters dog has heartworm and is being treated for it by the vet, his last shots to kill the heartworms were about 3 weeks ago and he has been doing great. Yesterday he started coughing again and we called the vet and he told us to give him cough medicine. Will his cough go away ?

Hi there. I'm considering getting a pet Chinchilla, or Ferret for my husband. He had a Chinchilla as a kid and just loved it... but I wanted to get some opinions from other people who have had them.. I have heard chinchillas are less social, and I know that he would like to hold it.. so I want to know if a Ferret would be a better idea. Of course I will read up on whichever pet we choose.. but I want some opinions first!
First off... tank, or cage? I have a 50 gallon aquarium that I have been told is an appropriate size for either of them.. but I have also seen the cages made specifically for chinchillas and ferrets that they have available at petstores. which would you recommend?
Secondly.. what should I know about either of these pets? What are the good things? what are the bad things? (Im not worried about maintinance as far as cleaning cages goes.. thats not a problem!)
thanks in advance for your answers!

My neighbor bought a bulldog from someone that claimed to be a breeder. She had never bought one before and didn't know the certain things to ask before buying. So, she bought the dog and didn't receive papers. The dog has a tattoo with what looks like a registry number. Is there a way to use that number to look up the dog's registry? I seem to think that the dog was stolen and this man sold it to her.

I would love to know what type of cat I have! She is in the tiny picture. She is 18months old now and is getting quite big, but the vet says she is actually a small-boned cat and is a little overweight at 3.6Kg. Her hair is about 2-3 inches long all over except on her tail it is about 6 inches long! She has recently developed a distinctive ruff around her neck. Her face is beautiful with quite a square-set chin. I know she has some Maine Coon characteristics but since the vet says she is small I think she mustn't be. As far as i know she is a domestic medium/long-haired but I'm wondering if she has any Maine Coon in her?

My goldfish suffered a traumatic injury when I was cleaning leaves out of my pond. It now has a bent spine and is not able to swim straight. It just rolls when it swims. Is there any treatment? Is there any hope that its injury will heal? I need to know if I should end its suffering or try to let it get better. Thanks for your help!

My friend is trying to convince me to suspend our cats in this manner. He did this and the cat was surprized but not distressed. My friend says he will soon get used to it and will actually benefit in a chiropractic sense. What do you all think? We are very open minded and will give all responses servious consideration.

He does not appear to be using his cuddle bone however he sometimes rubs his beak on his perch. I have had him for about a months so he is 3-4 months old now according to the pet store.
The cuddlebone is attached to the side of the cage above his perch for easy access.

I have a doberman who is about a year and a half. He is well trained and very obediant on a lead, or inside. However, when we are outside, once I take him off the training lead (about a 30ft length) he takes off and won't come to me. I've scolded him for it, but he continues to run. I've tried turning my back and ignoring him, and that doesn't work. I've even bribed him with treats, but with no success. I know he understands the commands I am giving him because like I said earlier, he will do them inside or on his training lead. I'm concerned one day he will end up getting hit by a car or somthing.

My Betta fish Princess, is about, well I just got her like 4 days ago. Just today, I nocticed the water has a slimey flim over the top of the water, and it also smells of chemicals :/

Could the water be contaminated?
Or is it the water pellets that I dropped in to clear the water of chemicals.

Also,
I have put in at the bottom of the tank, some rocks that I bought in the fish depot. and also some glass rock thingys that I bought in the graft depot, could the ones from the craft depot. be letting off a chemical

I have grown very attatched to Princess, and I want what's best for her. I would hate to see her fall ill, or die because of me :'[

I had to have my 16-year old female cat put to sleep about six weeks ago because of health problems. My cat lived with her since he was three months old. I'm wondering if he's lonesome and needs company. I brought a kitten in for him but that didn't work out because she was too young and she just bothered him too much. He's almost 14 years old and he's not in to playing much now. He just wants to lay around and sleep. Do you think he'll be okay by himself or should I get company for him. I've always had two cats. I hate to see them be alone. Being cats can't talk, I can't tell if he misses her or he's lonesome. What do you think? Because I'd like to get another cat but I don't want to make him uncomfortable again.

I have two fancy ( male ) mice. i have had them for about a week now. They have never fought untill now. They would fight over a wheel when their is two of them, and when i work up in the morning they were fighting in thier bed that they sleep together in all the time. I know they are used to each other because i bought them together from the same cage , (they were born together). I have already seperated them i gave them each water, food, a wheel, and thier toys. Now that they are seperated they keep trying to get to each other they seemed depressed when they are apart what do i do?

I know you can keep them in an aquarium, but I don't know if mine's big enough. And what are some things and home I could use to keep them happy without buying a lot of stuff? I am getting it Monday, so I'm just getting prepared.

I did bring my cat to the vet today and he couldn't find anything wrong with him. He said that his bladder was not full. It was emptied out. And he had no signs of kidney stones, no temperature, no loss of weight or appetite. He said that being I had a new kitten in the house using the same litter box, he probably doesn't want to urinate there now, so he's finding another place in the house to go. Well, I had to bring my kitten back to the shelter anyway because she was pouncing on him everytime he used the litter box or whenever he tried to eat. And when she tried to play with him, she was too rough. She would bite into his neck so hard that he'd be screeching. So, sad to say, I had to bring her back. She was too young. He couldn't handle being around her. Anyway, the vet said that that's probably the reason he doesn't want to urinate in the litter box. But I went home and checked the whole house and I can't find any place where he's urinated. Anyway, thanks for all your advice.

I've tried several things, but my parakeet refuses to take a bath. I use the sink of our bathroom to do it because no water dish can fit into our cage. Anyway, I haven't pushed her to do anything, but whenever I turn on the water and show her the pool, she flies the opposite direction and refuses to get in.

When she gets excited (playing, chasing us or toys…) we see a ridge of stronger hair along her back ( like a hyena!) but it doesn’t run in the opposite direction to the rest of her coat like a Rhodesian Ridgeback. Is this common in other breeds or does she really have some Rhodesian Ridgeback genes?

Im thinking about adopting an adult male weimaraner in which I don't know his past, but is very friendly at the shelter. My concern is that I have 3 cats and wonder if he will get along with them or if it will be possible to train him to. I know they are hard headed dogs.
