When she gets excited (playing, chasing us or toys…) we see a ridge of stronger hair along her back ( like a hyena!) but it doesn’t run in the opposite direction to the rest of her coat like a Rhodesian Ridgeback. Is this common in other breeds or does she really have some Rhodesian Ridgeback genes?

Thanks a lot for your answers, especially those that mention my puppy is a cuttie because she really is :-))
According to what I've read around, she's a real mix, possibly hound with a tinge of many breeds such as pointer, greyhound related breeds, podengo (aka podenco), labrador, etc.

Take it from me she is not retriever or lab cross, her feet are far too dainty for those breeds. At 6 months her feet look in proportion with the rest of her body which indicates she1s not going to grow much more. Bigger breeds have huge feet at this age as there is going to be a big heavy body to carry around!!
I would class her as a true heinz57 variety with Border collie great grand parents.

My first thought when I saw her standing at the counter was that she had some Rhodesian Ridgeback in her. Her color is right for this breed & her head has some of the shape also. These are a loyal & loving breed of dog but they also require proper socializing & obedience training. Good Luck with her, she is a cutie!!!!
Happy New Year!!!!

Ridgebacks are fairly rare dogs, and very expensive so the likeyhood of one getting out to do the wild thing with a non-ridgeback is pretty unlikely, but why worry, shes such a cutie, and shes a dog with hybrid vigour, you should have her a long time so enjoy!

the pic of her up on her hind legs, says Rhodesian Ridgeback, that was my first thought..... & the color & head shape is somewhat right for that breed..... the long legs suggest maybe collie, or a sighthound of some kind...... very pretty dog tho! cute puppy pic! the fact that shes a mix may explain why the hair isn't exactly like a rhod ridgeback.... but she looks it.... sorry, i don't see any golden retriever in there.....

My dog has exactly the same ridge of stronger fur along her back, and she's half Labrador retriever. Lab coat is coarser and more waterproof than many other dogs so yours could also be part Labrador. If she is, count yourself lucky; they have a wonderful personality.

She looks like she may have some lab but there is no telling what all she has in her background...She is beautiful no matter what kind she is. My daughter has a part golden retriever and something else and his hair does the same thing when he gets excited.

Possibly, I think she is more golden retriever... I think that is what it is, some sort of retriever. It doesn't matter what kind she is tho, she is gorgeous! She is soo cute! Lucky Duck!
