I feel for you and remember those days well. Think positive, your doing the feline population a huge favor and also her in that altering your pet reduces medical problems. In no time your kitty will heal and be herself. I think your cat acknowledges your concern and appreciates it but at the same time I think she can sense your apprehension as well. Just continue as you are petting and loving her. Another thing you can do is ask your VET for pain medication( you may be able to call the vet office and ask for the meds. techs are there several times a day and may allow you to pick up the meds while they are there). Most of my cats only needed it two days. Take care. It's great to know how much you love your baby!

My cats have never shown any ill effect after spaying or neutering. They have been done at varying ages as well. None had to wear cones.

Why is your cat wearing a cone? Has she been worrying at her stitches or was it a "just in case" thing. If it was a just in case, take it off her as that could be causing all the discomfort. Watch her and if all she does is give it a quick lick as she cleans herself, leave it off. Some cats even take the stitches out themselves after a week cos it tickles them.

At the shelter where I work there are no after effects to the spaying either, in 99% of cases The only thing is the older females can get a bit hormonal for a day (it is kitten season here in Australia at the moment) but are fine.

If she is worrying at the stitches, you can put a little bit of "Bitter Bite" or similar on it. If the area becomes red and inflamed then take her back to the vet. If the area just becomes a bit raised, don't worry unduly.

Good luck with her and thank you for doing the right thing by her

It is hard. I got my cat spayed and declawed on the same day and felt extremely guilty about it. But what you have to remember is that there are thousands of unwanted kittens that are euthanized each year in this country and that you do not want to contribute to this problem. Also, while it is painful for a couple of days, it is not permanent and she will be back to normal before you know it. As for the stitiches, they come out, the hair grows back relatively quickly and it is all forgotten and the quality of life for your cat is better for it.

try to keep reminding yourself that she did a wondeful thing for her. I'm not sure why she has that cone on...she doesn't need it. Take it off. She'll feel much better. Just watch her and don't let her chew the stitches off.

Spayed... The word is spayed.

Let her rest for the few days she needs to before the stitches are taken out. You can pick her up and cuddle her as much as you want as long as you do it gently.

Just sit next to her and talk to her, give her her fav food, and ask ur vet for some pain killers for her. She'll recover soon enough and be back to her old self.

I hade my cats done as well, it is painful for them, but if you love on them and just be there for them it will mean alot. Just give her space and she will feel better in no time and TRUST me in the long run you will be very glad you did!!

just remember that it is not permanent and that you did a very good thing by getting her fixed. Fixing your cat actually makes them live longer.
