we have a 12 year old cocker spaniel and are thinking about getting another one (a puppy though). we didnt socialize our dog when she was younger so shes really unfriendly. we got a shih tzu years ago though and after awhile they became best friends (but the shih tzu passed away 2 years ago). so if we get another cocker spaniel do you think she'll ever accept it or will she feel replaced cause its the same breed as her?

We were advized to put a cone around his head so he won't bite the stitches out for 1 week. Sadly, however, my puppy is heartbroken with the cone and cries. So we bought a muzzle to be less cruel and put it on him. He still is all sad!

Any advice? Should we stop using these devices?

I've had this puppy for about a week and she's been very good about going in a box with a puppy pad when we put her in it. Now she won't go. She's been in the box for about 2 hours now and I can't figure it out. The only thing that I think could be a problem is I'm using a different brand of puppy pads. Does this have anything to do with it? Would it be best to leave her in there until she goes or take her out? Help!

About 4 weeks ago our rat Spike passed away, I miss having him about the house, so I have decided to get another one, but undecided on what kind? Does anyone have a rat, if so what kind and are some more playful than others. Spike was an Agouti Hooded male.

Also serious answers only, as rats make great pets and any stupid and cruel answeres will be reported.

my dog wipes his backside on the floor, whether it be carpet or lino or wood, or even over the metal bars where the doors are,, doesnt seem to hurt him though.
what is up with that, luckily he spends all day cleaning his rear-end, so its not messy, and very funny to watch, he drags his body with his two front paws perched on his bottom, with both back legs in the air, but seriosly, what is up with that????

I have just move to a new barn that is all western. I use to ride english. When I rode 4 diffrent horses, it seemed like they were all calm. I am use to riding hot tempered jumpers and this was a nice break. Are most western horses more calm than english horses are or is it just my new barn!

Any suggestions how to stop my cat scratching my carpets, she has a scratching mat and 2 scratching posts (she is totally disinterested in them all), I have tried spraying them with catnip, and I have one of those pet behave sprays (strong citrus smell) which does deter her, but when the smell wears off the carpet she scratches again. It's driving me mad and wrecking my house! When I catch her in the act I shout at her and she knows she is not supposed to do it, but it seems to happen when I am in bed at night.

Their Cat's Litter Box Is In Their Kitchen !! Which is gross !! Their Opinion Is Always The Right One , But Only Reguarding Cat's ... Do They Not Realize There Is A Whole World Out There ??????

We are looking at a 17-2 hh Thoroughbred that has a very prominent forehead. My daughters riding coach (she has not seen him yet) made the comment about the cowboy saying.

I help with bloodhound rescue and have a bloodhound for a pet and a lot of people seem to think they lay around when in fact they are very active. Any dog will live a long life if it is taken care of proplerly.

hi, on the recommendation of several people here i bought some of that spray that's supposed to stop cats from scratching up the furniture, and i've been using it all morning. i sprayed mittens and mr. snickers in the face every time they even looked like they were thinking about scratching anything, and it worked pretty good because each time they would run away sneezing. but the spray is running low, and what's worse is they jumped up on top of the refrigerator to get away from me and now they won't come down no matter how much i yell at them!!! what should i do?
