I've had this puppy for about a week and she's been very good about going in a box with a puppy pad when we put her in it. Now she won't go. She's been in the box for about 2 hours now and I can't figure it out. The only thing that I think could be a problem is I'm using a different brand of puppy pads. Does this have anything to do with it? Would it be best to leave her in there until she goes or take her out? Help!

She may be confused...perhaps the new pad has a different scent and she thinks she should be "going" on it. I wouldn't leave her in the box for a long time or she'll view it as a punishment. I think 2 hours is a long time to be in there...Is it a box she'll be able to get in and out of on her own when she's older? Do you intend for her to be litter box trained? My cousin does that with her dogs, and they have special litter for dogs. Maybe you could try that?

gradually switch back and forth with the original puppy pad and the new brand, and she will at some time get used to it, if not, try going outside, and see if she is ready to be housebroken.

IS THE BOX INCLOSED? IF IT IS I WOULD TAKE IT OUT, IF NOT I WOULD LET HER STAY IN. GOOD LUCK, GO BACK TO THE OLD PAD.
