Feeding wild animals is born out of ignorance! If only people could think. What did these animals eat before the people and their bright ideas came along??? They ate just fine and exactly as nature intended. It is all in a delicate balance and we SUPERIOR acting humans think that we know what or when and animal should eat that lives it's life in the wild. We are so stupid it is amazing. That is why there are laws to keep us from being so stupid as to feed wild animals. We are just idiots like that. Even the most innocent form of wild animal feeding, feeding birds with seeds that we buy. When the people who were feeding those birds moves away and the seeds are suddenly gone it is a true hardship for those birds to figure out that the food isn't going to come back there. Just my opinion but I don't think that feeding the birds makes them better off in the long run.
So yes is my answer. Punish the silly fools who feed wild animals.

Yes- I have worked with the DNR, vets, and zoos. You get an animal that is used to getting fed and used to people. That animal can either pass on diseases to people (plague is carried in prarie dog fleas for one example) Botulism in waterfowl is another.
We also were called out to kill a raccoon because it was acting suspiciously. It was out in broad daylight in the city. The cops thought it was rabid, when it was actually someone's "pet" raccoon they were feeding. They didn't feed it the night before, so it wandered over to the neighbors in the morning and got shot.
Another case that is a huge issue in my state right now- deer baiting. Chronic Wasting Disease has been recently found to spread by deer saliva- which corn and bait piles increase the transmission because the deer have an increased density there. The state is trying hard to eradicate it, but it is pretty much impossible to stop once it gets into the soil or population of the area.

It is a crime.

How many innocent people in America are mamed every year by wild animals who have become too accustomed to people?

How many wild animals have had to be shot because they became a nusance and a danger to the public?

Feeding wild animals is just ridiculous and anyone that stupid should have to face a judge!

People should if they are not feeding them the right stuff. Like stuff they would not get in the wild. and put them or us in dangerous situations.

But to have a bird or squirel feeder with proper food in it I think would be ok.

No, they may be doing it for the good, but sometimes feeding wild animals is not safe, like bears, who would keep coming at you for more and more food, thinking you are providing, but wild animal feeders should not be punished, unless animals are dying.
