Sorry to tell you but guppies or any other fish that have long tails are very vulnerable to being attacked by the tetras because they are agressive. They tend to nip at the long fins of fish. i would suggest you dont get any long tailed fish! Oh by the way you may want to take out your guppies right away. Either them or the tetras. I dont know if your fish will make it though because they are very fragile fish.

Your guppy has been attacked because it's fancy tail proved irresistible to the other fish. The tail may grow back again, but is more than likely to become infected with fungus which will kill it. There's a lesson to be learned here: No more fancy finned fish.

It's possible the other fish are fin nipping types so I would get a tank divider and put your guppies on one side and your tetras on the other side. Also if you separate the fish like that the guppy should survive but there is a slight chance he won't.

If I were you, I would issue an arrest warrant for the tetras, very aggressive fish. I'm sure they are the gang that attacked the guppy. Unless you like magic disappearing acts, I would remove those guppies from the tank this minute.

Male guppies are easy victims of fish who like to nip fins. Flame Tetras tend to be fin nippers. They are probably the culprits. X-Ray Tetras are usually safe. Either get rid of the Guppies or the Flame Tetras.
Sorry!

tetras are fin nippers. Get the guppies out and take them back to the shop. Then start looking for a fish shop which actually knows what they are talking about.

I hate to say it, but your guppy will probably end up dying. Your other fish have eaten its tail - guppys are very docile fish and the others that you bought with it, unless kept in LARGE schools, can be quite aggressive. If you are going to have guppies, I would suggest keeping only guppies and bottom feeders.

It all depends on the size of the tank as to which, and how many fish you can place together. I have a 500 gal tank that holds several species of fish, that if in a smaller tank, would eat each other for sure. I have found that most problems with my many fish stem from environmental issues.

Six tetras? I'd suspect they're ganging up on him. I had about six tiger barbs that did the same thing. I had to sell them back to the shop.

Must have been bitten off by another fish. It will live, unless they attack it again (which seems likely).
