My daughter is 4 years old and our dog is 1 1/2 latley the dog has been sniffing her excessivly and mounting her my dog is a female. also the dog is pawing at her and scrathing with both paws toward her like she is digging toward her especially when my daughter is lying down.. I stop this behavior when ever I see it but can any one tell me why the dog is doing this.. should I be worried? what can I do to ensure my childs safety? Is this behavior in a dog normal? please respond

My cat has this thing about the dryer. She jumps in everytime I open it. Even if the clothes are wet inside, she just has to jump in and check it out. What fascinates her with the dryer so much? I always check for her before I turn it on but sometimes I have to take her out of 3 or 4 times while I'm loading or unloading it.

I am trying to housebreak my puppy and teach him not to chew on everything. I've tried the training pads, he just chews them up. And he's got more chewtoys then he knows what to do with, but he'd still rather chew on my electrical wires then his chewtoys. Any suggestions on how to break him of these bad habbits?

I have an albino male rat as a pet and he has developed some sort of skin problem. He scratches all the time which has led to alot of cuts and sores on his skin. What could be causing this problem and how can I fix it? Thanks in advance for any help.

Just wondering
a) what hedgehogs teeth are like- are they more like cats or more like rabbits?

b) would a large cage (such as a ferret cage with many levels) be better for them than a flat cage?

Preferably colorful ones? Tank will be a decent size, maybe 20 gal.

Hi all,

We took in a stray kitten during the summertime around August. It has grown considerably colder since then because we live around the greater Boston area.

The kitten, about 5-6 months old, is now living in an outdoors porch that is completely walled and insulated but not heated. It maintains a temp of around 50 degrees these days.

Will the cat feel okay in that type of environment? Sometimes the temperature in the porch dips to around 45 degrees, but we have a very small heater next to his bed.

The kitten is so used to being out in nature that we put one of those small pet doors so he can go out to take care of business or just play around for a little bit before he gets cold and comes back in.

Any help will be much appreciated, thanks all

Well, my Yorkie had his hair cut in October (mid october). It was supposed to be a trim, but she pretty much butchered him. His hair was shorter than a puppy cut, and really choppy. Now that it's growing it is all uneven, drives me nuts. The groomer was in a hurry, and she got my dogs haircut confused with another dogs. Okay, mistakes happen, I understand that. I'm just having a hard time finding another groomer, I took him to her about 7-8 times. He needs his hair fixed, I would do it (I have groomed dogs (and currently groom my parents dog), and other animals before, just not Yorkies!) ... I guess my question is... Has this happened to anyone else before?? and... I'm in college in SE Kansas, but am from NE Oklahoma... Know any groomers that are good in this area? I've search, but I don't know anyone around here that knows how good they are. I currently have 2 Yorkies, and they both need a trim... so I'm desperate.

I've had dogs my entire life, but never brushed any of their teeth. They were always healthy and clean.

I now have a JRT mix who's almost two, I've noticed lately that his teeth are dirty, more so then my other dog who's almost three years old.

I'm wondering what products people have had the best results with. I also would like some advice on how to get him to let me brush. Based on his personality, I'm thinking this is going to be quite a challenge for both the dog and myself.

I feed him high quality food, and i don't necessarily think that brushing a dog's teeth is always necessary, but he's too young for dirty teeth.

(I'm not taking him to the vet until he's due for a check up. He just has dirty teeth.)

(Yes, I will buy him some dental chews, but I'm looking for info on brushing his teeth.)

Just went out and got two (male) Bettas as a first pet for my two boys. I have them each in a pretty good size (round) fishbowl, with colored gravel, and small fake plant. Anything else I need to do? Is it OK to leave the two bowls right next to eachother, all the time?

How often should we feed them? I've read 2-3 times a week & once a day.

After, I had my puppies hair trimmed (she's 9 weeks) I read that it ruins the adult hair if it is trimmed before 10 months. My puppy is a pet and I plan on keeping her fur short, not long for show.So is it that it just ruins the hair for show or does cutting the puppy hair ruin the adult hair physically if I am keeping it short?

My little brother left his chicken bones out and my cat got to them. He ate three small buffalo wings bones...He seems fine right now, his tummy doesnt seem to hurt and he seems to breathing fine etc. I cleaned his litter box to monitor his defication etc. I know chicken bones splinter etc. but I'm wondering if he didn't choke on them going down how much damage they could do anyways?

I just got a pit bull mix and I read in many books that when your puppy is 8-12 weeks old you have to socialize it with other puppys. Or you puppy wont have any social skills. Please give me links on where to find classes to put my 10 week old puppy in new york city

i plan on getting one from humane society (i volunteer there and know there are many needy animals). however, i have never taken care of a dog on my own. i helped my grandma with hers and had dogs growing up though.

i prefer a medium to large dog of the no-poodle/spaniel variety.

any suggestions?

This is a debate between me and my boyfriend. He says he's never heard of a cat being hurt by being picked up by the scruff of the neck. My cat is of a larger breed, 14lbs at least on a large skeletal structure. I'd like to know the specific dangers, if any, of a cat being picked up in this manner w/out support on his lower body.
