My little brother left his chicken bones out and my cat got to them. He ate three small buffalo wings bones...He seems fine right now, his tummy doesnt seem to hurt and he seems to breathing fine etc. I cleaned his litter box to monitor his defication etc. I know chicken bones splinter etc. but I'm wondering if he didn't choke on them going down how much damage they could do anyways?

My cat ate the wishbone of our turkey this year on Thanksgiving...THANKFULLY he is ok. As you already know, cooked poultry bones can splinter and perforate the esophagus, stomach or intestine if they are not digested properly. As long as your kitty is eating normally and continues to have normal bowel movements, he should be ok. If anything were to happen, it would probably be 1-3 days after ingestion. If you start to notice a lack of bowel movements, diarrhea, or lack of appetite I would contact your vet right away. However, it sounds like he's going to be fine!

They can splinter and poke holes in unfortunate places. Most likely everything will be fine. They won't be coming out the other end - if they pass through safely they will be digested.

So definitely keep your eye on him for the next few days to see if he is having any distress - if so he will need to go to the vet right away.

Cooked bones are the ones that are dangerous. Cats have no problem dealing with uncooked ones. So you must be very watchful of your KFC - cooked meat is OK and NO bones.

I have a 15-year-old abyssinian who used to filch chicken bones out of the trash no matter WHAT I did, until I finally started taking them outdoors when I figured out what he was doing - and he's alive and well. Although I've heard many times that small bones like chicken bones can be a problem for cats, I've literally never seen it actually happen. It's still best to be cautious, of course, but I suspect your cat will be fine.

Chicken bones are not good for cats or dogs. They cause damage to the intestines.

Just keep on monitering his stool. He should be fine, my cat has done it a few times, but it can be dangerous.

My 3 positive healthful cats eat both raw hen, rabbit, or turkey bones on a daily basis. once in a lengthy time period one or extra of them will gnaw on raw venison, purple meat, or goat bones. Cats are made to eat total prey. Nature does no longer make blunders. If I were you even with the reality that i'd recommend your pal to feed her cat the bones raw.

My mom always told me chicken bones could splinter and get stuck in the throat, so I never gave them to my kitties. (they're great treats for pet rats, though!)

Chances are your cat will be ok, just be sure to monitor what's left out from now on. =)

ps. grasshopper legs can do the same, they're barbed.
