He are a few pictures of Riley:

I was told by the rescue that I got him from that he is part Chow Chow (which is evident by his coloring and the black spots on his tongue) and part Terrier, but we don't think he is part Terrier. (Since they also told us he would be 25lbs and is now 35, and soon going to be 40.)

What do you think?

What is normal as far as cats playing together goes? I have 2 cats and they run around tackling one another all day. One will then usually get upset, hiss/meow then run away. They get along very well other than this, but I was just wondering if this is normal/healthy?

Rory, my beloved Great Dane has been eating chunks out of the ltterbox, but the odd thing is...only out of Rory (the cat's box)...I saw the big mutt chewing and crunching, but couldn't figure out from where....So..I watched him closely. He sneaks over covertly, and grabs big pieces of hardened poop and eats them. It is so gross! How do I stop this annoying and troubling behavior? I think he is jealous of Rory, the cat.

I have 2 dogs called Zak and Millie.
Zak gets called (and answers to) Zak, Shitbags, Mr McWuff and baby boy.
Millie gets called (and answers to) Millie, Millie Boo Boos, Boo Boos and baby girl.
I read in a book once that a dog trainer proved that a man's dog thought it was called 'no' because that was what its owner said to it all the time.
Does anyone else out there call their dogs (or any other animals) by names that aren't their own?

I have a brother and sister, and have been unable to get one of them fixed as yet. They are 7 months old. I grew up on a ranch, having tons of cats, but it was never an issue (being on a ranch) of having to get them fixed. We don't want to end up with kittens, but I had thought that cats matured or went into heat at 6 months old. Female has shown no sign, but male has definatly matured. So now I need to find out exact facts here as to when cats actually do hit their 'mature' stage, and will they actually attempt to mate with eachother.

I clean the water every 3 days and have a good filter. Looks like very small foam bubbles.

He not only does this when he urinates but also when he sprays as well. What is his most likely diagnosis and will this cost me a lot of money? I'm afraid that if it is too expensive, I won't be able to afford it and might have to have him put down if it is that serious.

My dog, Riley, is (most of the time) a total dream. He is doesn't make noise, doesn't lick, doesn't jump on the furniture, is mild mannered, loves to play and cuddle, etc.... Which is great for an 8 month old dog, but I have one problem with him.

It seems like he gets mad at me (and my b/f) when we leave for work and "tries" to poop (only #2, not #1) on the floor (and most recently the couch) right after we leave; however, he is housebroken and gets me up when he needs to go #1 or #2 when we are at home.

It also seems like this is worse if I don't have any noise in the apartment. I have started to leave the radio on during the day, and it seems to help, but isn't a total remedy.

Any suggestions?

And note two things:
1) I work very close to home, so I always come by and visit with him at lunch and take him out.

2) My b/f and I are both anti-crating. We think it's cruel to leave a dog in a box.

i took my cat casey to the vet, she is female and 8 yrs old. they did bloodwork on her and i will know the results tomorrow. I took her in as over the last month, she got real skinny where you can now say she is empaciated. she use to throw up a lot, over the last month she stopped. she eats a little here and there, she meowns for her food which the vet says is a good sign. she is deyhdrated so they put fluids in her...they felt a mass under her belly(that i am worried about) but they do not know if it is cancer without xrays. the vet visit already cost me 160. 00 so i would rather wait to see what the bloodwork says tomorrow before i go ahead with xrays. When i told my sister what happened, she said don't get x-rays, her lab simba has a bunch of masses all over. my kitty is home with me now. This kitty used to be my mother's cat and my mom died suddenly at 64 in jan so i would be distraught, me and my 8 yr old daughter if i lost the cat2. what would u do?

We have a male cat (neutered) just over a year old. He has been with us since he was 10 wks old and has always been very easy going - playful but never attacked anyone. About 2 weeks ago all of a sudden he started having these 'spells' when he runs through the house like crazy and started jumping at & scratching & biting the kids. At first I thought that maybe they provoked him but after watching them for a while I know that is not the case - they don't treat him any different than they used to.
He is an indoor cat, has his claws - I would never have those removed but I don't like him scratching the kids (even my husband, but never me) - just this morning he jumped on my 3yr old's back while she was just standing in the kitchen...
Why would a cat start behaving like this? We don't hurt him - so it's not in defense. Should we maybe let him out of the house (not very safe in the neighborhood though) to get whatever it is out of his system? What can we do with him?

I am at a loss at to what to give my cats to drink. I have tried coffee, tequila, koolaid, orange juice, tea, iced tea, beer. They just turn their noses up and walk away. In fact, Emerald took a whiz right in front of me to display his derision. Any advice?
