She's hilarious, affectionate, and smart. She gets along great with our 5 ferrets. When one escapes (usually the same male) she will playfully corner him under the living room furniture until we get him. Once the ferret escaped down the hallway and into a bedroom. Ranger let us now where he was by running up and trying to get us to follow her (Lassie style, LOL). But she will give the ferrets kisses and loves to watch them in their cage.
Just recently she stole a few crusts of pizza from either the table or trash, can't remember. Well, she hid one in her bed and the other under a pile of clothes. I think she hid another one but I can't remember where. It was hilarious, she was so upset when we found them.
If I'm gone she gets really depressed and will just lay around the house. My mom and little brother can get her howling really well if I'm not there because she is so sad! She's very loyal and will about drown me in beagle kisses when I get home.
One of her favorite games is hide and go seek. I'll throw a toy down our hallway and while she runs to get it I'll hide. She will tear back into the room as quickly as she can, drop the toy, and search for me. She gets all excited and looks everywhere. If she can't find me she'll run all around the house. When she finally does see me we both make a dash for the toy to see who gets it first.
When we take her out snow sledding in the winter she hates it when we go down the hills. She will bite at our coats and try to stop us. She's worried we'll get hurt.
She has gone lobster fishing with us out on my grandfathers boat. She liked watching the seals and just being out on the ocean.
Another favorite "game" of ours is hunting annoying flys. She HATES flys and will tear up the house trying to catch and kill them. It's hilarious. She stands and listens for them, then dashes after them as quickly as she can. She'll jump up on the furniture for a better advantage, lol.
Well, that's just a little bit of the reasons I love my merry little beagle! They are special dogs!

We raise Beagles, my kids raise Beagles, (sigh) even my grandkids raise beagles.
Since thare is no doubt that they own the place, I guess it would be safe to say that I even rent my house from Beagles.
Oh,,,, did anyone ever tell you "Never chase a Beagle"??? They were right ya know, there is a valid reason for that. Beagles naturally hunt in a circle, and when you move twards them they expand their circle. So when you chase one all that happens is they get farther away.
There are several beagle pics on my 360 page (blog) just click on my name to get there.

we got a 2 year-old beagle from the shelter in january and he is so awesome! he's kind of big--45 lbs--but not really fat. we had a german shepherd/doberman mix for 12 years before this dog, and the beagle is not much like our other dog. for one thing, he's always "bounding" everywhere on his little pork-chop legs, and he practically flies through the air when he runs. he's always flopping on his back when he doesn't want to do what you tell him to do, and he looks like a salmon swimming upstream when he writhes around on his back and stretches his neck out.
I love how soft his coat is and how silky his ears are, and when I let him outside to pee in the dark he disappears, all except his little white paws which pretty much glow in the dark.
he is a bed hog (we didn't let our other dog get on the beds, and we didn't intend to let this one, but he'd keep jumping up when we were asleep, so we couldn't really stop him). he used to lie on my pillow and growl when I tried to move him, but I just flipped him over by pulling up the covers under him, so now he knows he can't win that battle and he's stopped that bad behavior.
one thing I both like and dislike is how he lies down when I'm already in the bed. he jumps up and sort of throws himself against my back with all his weight. I'm not sure if he is trying to be snuggly or trying to assert his dominance by pushing me. but it keeps my back warm!
I also love how he sits up like a gopher to look out the window instead of putting his paws on it. I can't believe anyone would give him away, but he is a well-adjusted little guy so I think he got a lot of love.

I love my Beagle, he is almost 4 years old! His name is Petey, and he is always doing funny, cute things. He will knock over his food or water dish when they are empty. If you ignore him, he will look at you and howl (cute, but not always fun), he is just a really great dog and very loving.

Yeah sure everyone loves the howl and don't you love when they get the scent and disappear. No regard for your thoughts they just go.
