Erm, well i know that in the UK, I don't live there, that a bull mastiff had attacked another dog, and the council said it had to be put to sleep, or removed from the country. We took it, and two dog walkers came to the sanctuary, and told us that they would keep it on a lead, and if they saw another dog, they would turn around and walk the other way.
Not only did it savage another dog, he had to be put to sleep as well because of his history. You just need to make sure that if the police come to your door, the dog does not growl, but licks the officer to death, that way they may see that your dog isn't a complete savage.
What was the reason for your dog attacking the pit bull. Email if you want so I can give you more advice. I work at a rescue and deal with many sticky situations.

Yes you are. A dog owner has to be a responsible dog owner. Even if it was an accident and they do happen you must be in control of your own dog at all times. You may want to work with you spaniel so this won't happen again. Get some training and make her more doggie friendly. This is going to cost you some $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Good Luck

It really depends. Who was the aggressor? Did the Pit Bull approach you and your dog and your dog was defending you?? Where were you & your dog, on your property minding your own business? Were you walking your dog on a leash and out came this Pit Bull? If your puppy attacked a pip bull, it sounds like the pit was not looking for a fight. How bad was the injuries? You may want to sit down with the pits owner and offer to split the vet cost.

Yes you are liable. Your pet is under your control. If you can't control your pet, that doesn't mean its not your fault. It is very much your fault if you can't control your own animal. So if the pits owner decides, you can be held liable. It would be the same were it the other way around, and their dog had attacked yours.

In the state of texas, animal on animal, there is not liablitly. There is nothing anyone will do when an animal attacks another animal. I doubt that anything will happen. Did the pit bull die? Even if it did, there is no law against animal on animal (at least where I live)
GOOD LUCK

Was your dog loose? Did the Pit wander on to your property? This is really a matter for a lawyer, as rules on situations such as these vary from state to state.

It depends on the circumstances of the attack. Who attacked first, and why? If your dog definitely started the fight, you probably could be held liable. If it was in defense, probably not.

Wow...kool dog!
The laws vary, so it should depend on the circumstances in which the attack occured. Check with someone locally in authority, who can answer your question in detail.
Yes, you can be held liable...good luck!
