I dropped my 14 week old Ragdoll kitten off this morning for his declaw and neuter surgery and the vet said I needed to use a non-clay litter from 7-10 days while his paws healed. Does anyone have any recommendations as to what has worked best for them? Thanks!

We bought a mature female Fuzzy Lop and wish to breed her - but are not sure if she would be considered too old (we have her registration papers so know her age) she is in good health

I had a mated-pair of twin-spot gobies in my aquarium. Unfortunatly, one of them died. I would like to buy another mate for the lone goby, but I know that you need to mate them with their opposite sex or they could kill each other.
Does anyone have any advice for determining the sex of a twin-spot goby and/or successfully pairing them with another.

Much thanks, in advance!

My female kitty will be a year old in November. She has been spayed, and also has a habit of peeing on anything fabric. In the past two weeks, she has started to do her poops in the the bath, right at the plughole! Her litter tray is changed and cleaned regularly and I have not bought a differerent brand of litter for ages. When she was younger and peeing on fabrics I tried different types of litter, but now Ive just gone back to Catsan!

I had a nine year perfectly healthy chow chow. On friday she had her routine check up and was given a clean bill of health. I dropped her off at a kennel because I went out of town for the weekend at a kennel that I have used for years. They called yesterday and told me that they checked on her at 4:00 p.m. and she was fine. When they return about an hour later she was dead. They rushed her to the vet and they said she died of "bloat". Does this sound right to anyone? Can a perfectly healthy dog just die.

I was clearing out my garden at the weekend and got bitten by a spider that got caught in my clothes. I didn't really get a good look at it. what can I put on the spider bite? I have a red bite mark where it bit me and it was painful when it happened.

My dog lola was bought home to the UK from Gran canaria where we found her as an abandoned dog. She has spent the last 6 months in quarantine. Is there any advice that anyone can give, who has been in this situation. She is a very happy, bouncy, sociable dog, so doesnt seem to have been made unhappy by being in the kennels and we want to make sure she stays happy.

To those of you that know a lot about parrots and raise baby birds I have a story and a theory I'd like to get your view on. The last clutch of eclectus babies that I raised, when I pulled them from the parents one had an impacted crop. The blockage was small and squishy like. You could actually move it with your finger, I wondered if it was a piece of cotton or something from one of the toys. I nursed it back to health with some emeraid and lots of love and it passed the impaction about 2 weeks later, he's now a GORGEOUS baby boy that I just finished weaning along with his clutchmate. Well I just had another baby hatch on the 30th. I checked him 2 days ago like I do everyday and low and behold, a hard SOMETHING in the crop. I pulled it yesterday to handfeed and find out what in the wold was going on. After a few handfeedings yesterday, whatever it was passed. I'm wondering if the male isn't giving the female enough liquids during the regurgitation process. Thoughts?

He doesn't even seem to notice he has done it. Is this a bad sign? Is he dying?

Two days ago my dog (15lbs bichon frise/lhasa mix) jumped off my couch and hit the coffee table. He started crying and all. After it all, I had him walk and notice that he was limping. I checked it out, i stretched it, rubbed it, moved it left to right, moved it up and down, massage, etc. He was fine he didn't show any sign of it hurting. There is no bruising, swelling, etc. Later that night I touched it a certain way and he whimpered a little but besides that he is fine just not walking on all fours. I am really thinking that he just hurt his leg a little and its sore right now therefore he isn't walking on it. I am thinking that there is no serious damage done. I was thinking about letting him rest up for a few more days and if it doesn't get better then take him to the vet. I am just very tight on cash right now and really don't wanna take him in if it is something that will just heal on its own....

I fully believe spaying/neutering animals is wrong and 100 percent unnatural. If you can't take responsibility of a sometimes aggressive dog, then you shouldn't own one, don't go and get it castrated.

I deem it abuse of power to determine whether or not an animal gets to keep his genitalia. So I guess this is just a poll:

All in favor say Aye

All against say Nay

SInce the nail di dnot bleed on the bird stand I left him all night there. Is that ok. How long after I applied the styptic powder can I put him back in the cage. Will he bleed again? I am a new owner and I dont know what to do. I am going to the Bird store and get the styptic powder. DO I take him there to show him to the person at the store. I called the vet's office and she said that as long as the bleed has stopped it sok just to use the powder. Thank you for your advice.

My kitten is so wierd. First off, he likes to play with water. He actually even jumped in the toilet bowl last week, nasty. And he was just sitting there like it was a jacuzzi.

He can unlock and almost open doors. No word of a lie. We had to move some furniture that was near doors because he would use one paw to jiggle the knob and the other for the lock. When we eat dinner we put him in one room and shut the door. All dinner long the door knob is turning, enough for it to "open" but he wasn't able to pull the door open.

Friday night, I was leaving for a wedding. And shut off our kitchen light (wall switch)....2 seconds later it was back on. So my kitten and I played "keep the light off for about 10 minutes". My husband didn't believe me so I demonstarted when I got home.

He is also very vocal. When I come home from work I say hello to him through the window...and ask him questions, Not really expecting a response but he meows, after each questions.

He also sucks our ears.

My mother buys her goldfish from the same pet shop, without fail. Her fish die about every six months - like clockwork! I am sure she looks after them, yet there they go, floating to the top!

Could it be that the pet shop have bred goldfish with short lifespans to make more money???

Do you know if my AFrican Grey will be alright with just styptic powder for his nail bleed. I clip hisnail yesterday and it bled and I applied flour and then the bleed stopped. When I put him in his cage he bled the same nail and I had to put him on his bird stand the whole night. Please let me know if I need to take him to the vet or its sufficient to use the styptic powder. Thanks
