He is now 2. He has all his shots

If your cat goes outside at all, I would recommend bringing him in every year for his shots and a check-up. He may be exposed to health risks that a regular check-up and annual shots can really help prolong his healthy life.

If he's an indoor only cat, and there's no chance of him accidentally "escaping", I can go either way on that one. If your cat is fairly healthy, I'd say it may not be necessary. My cats are indoor only, have all their shots, and I bring them in every other year, just to be safe.

You have to have the shots done every year! Those immunisations are not for life, you know.
And while you're at the vet, why not have the vet give him a checkup too?
That's what I intend to do (my cat is not yet a year old; he got his shots in early April, and I do mean to have him checked up every year, just in case).

Yes, your cat needs to have a checkup every year. If your cat was to accidentally scratch a person visiting at your house, and that person reported the incident, your cat and you could be in big trouble if it was not current on all its shots. Please treat your pet like you would a child. Follow the guidelines that your veterinarian gives you.

I say yes you should. Every year around the same time i take my cat to the vet and get her annual shots. Some of the shots only last a year. Check with your vet.

If your cat is an indoors cat, I don't think it's necessary to get a check-up every year. It's a big financial racket like anything else. The vets are making lots of money off this. One thing to consider, though, is that if you need to board your cat in a kennel during vacation or something, they will not let you put your cat in the kennel unless all the shots are up to date. So, you're kind of forced to do it. It's a racket, I say!

For an outdoor cat, annual checkups and vaccinations are strongly recommended. For an indoor cat, once every two years should be fine.

In my opinion no, because it is a waste of money. If you have more than one pet, then definatley take them all in at the same time. No harm in that...

but I won't take my cat in until she needs another shot...

yup. he needs his vaccines boostered and a physical exam. you never know when an abnormality will show up, and as he ages its a good idea to get blood work done yearly too.
