Sounds like you have a case of "intelligent animal disease" on your hands. The smart ones can be the most fun, but they can also be the most work because they will keep you on your toes.
As for the things he is doing, they mostly seem pretty normal. Many cats like to play with water. Granted, yours is the first I have heard of who likes to take a soak in the toilet, but cats sometimes just like some strange stuff. Playing with the lights seems to just be a fun game with him. He figured out how to work the switch and now he can play with mom for hours! (To him, no doubt great fun!) Opening doors? The door is in his way. He figured out how to remove the obstacle. Smart cat! A little more trouble, but I've got to give him credit! Oh and some cats are just more vocal than others. It sounds like this guy is happy to hear that you are home and is telling you to get inside so he can spend time with you.

I must say I laughed out loud a couple of times. Especially the switch-on-the-light section...
Anyway, I'd also go with discouraging any direct contact with the toilet bowl water (teaching him to go potty there may be a way to do it - I don't think any reasonable cat will touch water that he has used for that purpose) and suckling at your ears. It's funny or cute, but...
Opening doors... I keep my doors open, or at least ajar (no problem with dinner... I taught my cat not to pester me by totally ignoring him the couple of times, he got the point - and not jumping on the kitchen table was one of the few issues I was adamant about), so he hasn't got a chance to learn that. But once there was a draft while I was asleep, and a door got shut leading to his litterbox - I think he tried to wake me, but I'm used to ignoring him during the night... He hadn't soiled / peed on anything, but I hated the thought that he had had to hold it all in the whole night through. So I would have been glad if he had managed to open the door.
Vocal - my kitty is moderately vocal - talks to me regularly, but unless he is complaining about a fly on the ceiling, he is not very loud. I love his answering my questions...
And the light... none of the switches at home are low enough even for him to jump up to them, but it sounds like a fun game. Unless one is in a hurry. :)))

Sounds like your kitty has lots of time on his hands to figure things out. We recently adopted two kittens and oH MY WORD! They are a handful. They have now figured out how to open the bedroom door (they just butt their heads into it until it opens) so now I have to make sure its shut tight before I leave. They climp EVERYWHERE (we caught them on a shelf above the fridge the other day) :sigh: *shakes head*, one of the cats like to put his paw in his water bowl and will play with it for a while. Thankfully we havent' had any toilet incidents. But both kitties do get quite vocal when I come home from work. Another thing - our thermostat on on A/C was changed to like 50 this weekend and guess who decided to do that? Yup the cats. *shakes head again* So apparently they must of thought it was too hot in the living room *lol* Gotta keep an eye on them all the time otherwise who knows what they'll get into.

My cat is almost 20 yrs old and has played with water ever since she was a kitten. When I run a bath, she walks around the edge of the tub and has even fallen in a time or two. It doesn't seem to faze her.
In the mornings, she meows until my husband turns on the shower for her. Or if he's in already, she just pushes the curtain aside and strolls in under the water. It really freaked him out the first time he felt the little furball in there with him!
She is fascinated by the water that drains out of the dehumidifier into the floor drain. She will tip over cups with liquid in just to play with the spill.
I have a dog who plays "make the garage door go up and down." As soon as I hit the button to make it go down, she runs under it to make it pop back up. This can go on for quite a few cycles until she gets bored. The smarter they are, the more ingenious the games they play.

I have had and still have very weird cats. About 19 years ago I took in a premature kitten who's mom had stopped feeding him. I ended up bottle feeding him with prosobe baby formula (soybean based, no lactose). He eventually went from runt kitten at 3 weeks old to huge 18lb heffer (Not much fat, just a lot of muscle). He would also open doors, occaisonally use the toilet as opposed to his box, and he loved to chase after dogs (large ones...) He was a consummate hunter and always brought home presents for his human. So much so in fact that I eventually stopped letting him out altogether. Oh yes, he also loved beer. I could not leave a glass of beer or ail sitting on the table or he would slup the whole thing down. The first time he did this, I had set down a mug of bass ale on the kitchen table for a few minutes so I could use the restroom. When I came out he had drunken most of it and was licking his chops. He was hung over for 3 days.... Merlin (the cat) died of natural causes at the ripe old age of 18 last year and is sorely missed. He was active up until the last few days.
Currently we have 4 kitties. My new kitty who is very much like Merlin, Snitch, is also turning out to be a huge tabby. Sometimes I think he is Merlin reincarnated. He has one weird and somewhat gross habit though, he will rub any eye goo out of his eyes and eat it...
My wife has two cats. Spice is the oldest and has a habit of flattening herself out like a sewer rat and crawling under my daughter's bedroom door to go in and sleep on her bed. Its amazing to watch her squeeze through such a small space.
My wife's other cat, unfortunately, has decided that sweet little spice is her mortal enemy, and attacks her whenever the opportunity presents itself. For this reason, we are looking for a new home for her, one without any other animals where she can get all of the attention she demands.
My daughter's cat Abbie is the youngest in the house. At 3 months, she is the normal feline ball of energy, however she has the annoying habit of coming in and trying to nurse off of our blankets while we sleep. I don't think I need to tell you how popular this makes her with us. And she drewels...
In short, I am now convinced that cats in general are nuts, bonkers, and totally demented...

What a fantastic Kitten. He sounds exceptionally bright. We used to have a cat that opened doors - he would fetch too. That's always a fun game - use the plastic ring from when you open the milk jugs.
Sounds like he needs some challenges - good kitty type games & toys.

It seems your cat is a very expressive kitten , and quite imaginative , perhaps maybe you could get him to do other things that would be beneficial to you and your family . However , I think you have a clever little cat on your hands , and I really do not think there is much you can do , they are so individual in personalties , mine also has his own distinct mannerisms, you just have to let them be themselves , I realize it can be annoying, but maybe he or she will eventually move on to something else . I t must be quite fun and entertaining to watch ,I think your cat is adorable , quite funny too .
Don't worry , enjoy your pet !

You're cat's not wierd. He sound's like an intelligent, highly motivated kitten. I've had a cat that loved water. Bath time was one of her favorite times. Your kitten sound's like he will be very easy to train, even potty train. If you wrap saran wrap around the comode seat and put some litter in it and show him where it's at. He will use it and in a short time you can get rid of the wrap and litter and he will use the potty. One good way to get rid of that stinky cat litter. Try it and good luck. Sound's like a really good cat.

Your little fur ball sounds very gifted. All animals have their little characteristics and yours seems to have an abundance of them. I have a cat myself and she likes to get in front of the TV during an auto race and watch the cars and sometimes chases them around the corner of the screen and looks around wondering where the cars disappeared to, it is the funniest thing to watch.

your cat is not weird! he's great! You are very lucky to have a cat like that! my cat is wierder i think. she loves olive oil. if you put it on your skin she runs around licking it! she absolutely love potato chips! She also loves butter, cheese, penut butter, meat but for some reason she dislikes ice cream! She loves to curl up anywhere and licks carpet. she also likes to walk around with shaving cream on her nose. her meow is the strangest i've heard! it is a cross between purr and meow so it sounds like puuurooow! have fun with your cat!
