I give my new puppy pig's ears to chew on because the lady at the pet store told me a new puppy, up to a year old, should not have rawhide. She told me pig's ears, animal hoofs, etc. are the best. My puppy loves to chew on them. Someone has now told me that they are very harmful to humans and can cause liver damage, even death. It's after the puppy chews on them, then you touch the part where they have chewed, it will affect you liver. Anyone else ever hear of this?

We have a lovely GSD ***** who's 5 years old and has never had a litter. I would very much like to breed her just once, and have the time and space to care for a litter of puppies. However, I don't want to take her to a professional stud because I don't like the sharply angulated hind leg which breeders favour. How do I find a good-tempered male GSD with papers in the London area?

I have made up my mind to do this, so please don't bother posting replies tellingme what an awful person I am for adding to the animal population. Why is it acceptable for breeders to do this and not me? Breeders have no more idea than anyone as to where their puppies will end up five years after they were sold. I would vet all homes thoroughly and would not allow the puppies to go unless I was satisfied that they wouldn't end up in a shelter. My dog is a rescue dog, with papers from a very reputable breeder, which rather stymies the argument that only breeders should produce litters.

I have a friend whose dog likes to chew on everyone's hands and feet! It's very annoying and it's constant! He'll come up, perhaps lick your hand, but then he'll try and bite it! Not very hard, just playful, but it's still annoying! We'll give him a sharp "No" and then he'll stop for a few seconds, but then start doing it again! How can my friend get him to stop?

And no, he's not teething!

My 16 year old cat has had more than her share of UTI infections, she is spayed has been since 6 months old. I would think a cat in her / his lifetime would get only one, if any unirary infections. She has had it 2 or 3 times a year, except for this past year we got lucky but tonight, Whamo!! pools of blood on the floor, frequent trips to the litter box without peeing, depressed in pain and drinking allot of water. I know this has to be asscoiated with something else serious. A kidney stone? Cancer? Bladder ? I will be at the vet's before they open and will ask for some tests to get to the root of this problem and cure her. I pray she can make it till then. She is now resting peacefully probably because she takes phenelbarbitol every 12 hours and that helps. So if you have a cat that had kidney problems or anything simular that can cause these symptoms, please tell me. It is now 3:13 am, USA time and I will be there at 7:45 am Thank you and God Bless you. She eats the best food.

You hear all the time about dog bite victums on the news, and the owners saying "My dog is good, this is the first time its bit someone". I don't understand why dog owners feel the need to unleash their dog when their walking with it in public. It has ability of attacking someone else, and the ability of getting attacked by another dog. Why not keep everyone safe by keeping your dog leashed? Just because the law might say you don't have to, that doesn't mean you shouldn't excercise comment sense. Which says it would be a good idea. We as humans have the ability to communicate effeciantly through signs and launge. A dog wags it tail, its happy. A dog is upset, it might skip the snarl, and go straight into attack mode.

I have had my lovely red Beta for about 5 months now. One day I looked in his bowl and it looked like his tail had gotten ripped on somethan. There is no plants or anything in the bowl with him. Just rocks and smooth shells on the bottom. Since then, his tail keeps getting shorter. It's almost down to a nub now. It looks like he is eatin it. I know thats how they kill eachother when u put em together. Is he eating his tail? my friend said feed him more, but I don't want him to eat himself to death. Whats goin on? What to do?

My last Beta fish jummped onto the kitchen floor, now this one is eatin himself. Is it just me? lol

i have a two week old 24l tropical fish tank community, with shoals of neons and danios, and an albino cory catfish. for the past day, my catfish has stopped moving around, even for food, and just lies on the gravel breathing normally. i don't know whether it's ill, or lonely, as i heard you're supposed to keep corys in small groups. i don't know whether its injured, as when it does swim it swims very close to the rocks and so swims a bit lopsided anyway. im going to the pet shop tonight to buy some fish stuff and i wondered if anyone could offer any advice as to what is wrong with my cory. any helpful ideas will be greatly appreciated, thank you :)
