First have him checked by a vet to make sure there is no problem. Then look at the food you're feeding him. Our pets need quality pet food. Read the ingredients list and learn what the stuff on there is and what it does (or does not do) to/for our pets. A quick pet food 101. If the pet food contains corn/corn products or by products it is a poor quality food. Do not pay attention to advertising, they all say there food is great. Corn is a filler that can trigger skin problems. (allergies, skin problems, itching and excessive shedding) By products is anything from an animal not fit for human consumption, including cancerous tissue. Quality foods have meat as the first ingredient. California Natural, Solid Gold, Innova and Merrick are a few of the best brands available. I have a beagle and she goes out A LOT. But then, she's 10 years old.

I know it sounds gross, but you may need to kind of... keep an eye on it's poo. Is it bloody? Runny? Does the puppy have a hard time.. going? If so, call your vet.

Also, it could be that you're feeding him a little too much. Just put the food in a bowl and let him eat when he's hungry. It may be the type of food you're giving him.

Just try a mixture of things, or simply call your vet and ask.

2 times a day? Is it the recommended dosage split to 2 feeding times?
My beagle is being fed once a day, and if he eats extra like dog biscuits or bones, he will tend to have more poo the next day. It's normal. Don't worry.

Are you feeding cheap food? Cheap food = more waste = more poo. I switched to California Natural and saw a decrease in bathroom frequency.

Hmm... Sounds like his or her dog food may be disagreeing with them, try switching out their dog food for another kind and see if that works. but do this gradually as dog's stomachs are sensitive to a sudden change of food. Slowly decrease the amount of old dog food and increase the amount of new dog food with each day. by a weeks time they should be completely switched over to the new food. I hope this helps, Best of luck to you.

Is it solid (with shape) and not bloody?

That's the main concern.

How many times is not a big deal but your food probably has lots of fillers.

I think that is normal for puppy. He will reduce when you feed him only once a day. Also just check the amount you feed him.
