You are sitting in front of the greatest teaching tool ever invented: your computer. There are tons of websites containing excellent articles about parrot care and training, nutrition, and parrot husbandry.

This will get you started. Keep reading, researching and learning.
Learn about positive reinforcement training- this is essential in training tricks!
Easy on the seed-lots of vegetables.
Keep the cage stocked with toys and change them often...birds get bored with the same toys, this will keep them interested in new things and will assist you in teaching tricks. The more curious and stimulated they are, the more open they will be to learning new things.
Good Luck.

Alex's are skittish to begin with. My first plucked feathers for months until she got settled. Time is the key with these guys. You must NEVER show you disappointment to them, they are very sensitive. You also may buy supplements over the Internet and have them shipped to you.
Good diet, fresh fruit and Veggies and time. Do not force them, one may kill the other. If they both have their own cage, you may need a third one to house them in, one that belongs to neither bird. Set both cages next to each other and clip the wings, once they begin to develop a relationship, allow them out to play with each other. When you are sure they are BEST friends, you may house them together.

Do a search for breeders outside your immediate area. If they have babies ready to go, they can ship them to you from across the country if necessary. I've got three caiques and TWO of them came from out of state because you cannot find them in my area.
