It depends on whether you're talking about a male or female cat. If it's female, you need to consider things like whether she's on heat or pregant, as this makes the operation more complicated because of increased vessel size and a uterus that is more easily damaged. Age and size will influence cost as well, as a bigger cat will require more anaesthetic and pain medications. (Plus if he/she's got any health problems that mean more expensive drugs need to be used)

Where you take him/her will influence cost as well- you may be able to find a free/low cost spay/neuter program being offered through an animal shelter. Going through the local vet will probably cost between AU$80 & $160

If you mean neutered or spayed, you should call your local vet clinics and ask. It usually is not much and well worth the money because not getting them fixed will cause them medical problems and drive you nuts as well. Also will bring more kittens in the world tht will have t be put down because there is not enough homes. I don't mean directly the litter it produces, I am talking about ir's litter, and son on. Think about it. Be kind. Get your cat fixed, and it makes a bettr cat out of them.

Some vets will do it free at certain times of the year to encourage people to have their cats fixed if they feel they cannot afford the surgury. Also some animal charities can help you find a vet that would do it free for you. Mine cost me £60 per cat, and it was worth every penny.

I just had a tom cat neutered. We have a van that is sponsored by a local group. It is called the neuter scooter. No joke. It cost me $5 and they did it between 9 and 3.

it cost me $150 per cat back in Feb for neutering. I also got the recomended preanestesia testing to be sure that they were healthy enough to go through with the surgery.

you should call your vets office and they can give you an estimate.
