My kittens are about 6 weeks old and have started to mess around the house. My cat doesn't seem to want to train them. What is the best way? Any tips?

Don't allow them the run of the house, keep them confined to a smaller area, with a bed something to play with and a litter tray they will naturally start to use the tray as they don't like their space to be dirty.

I faced the same problem not very long time ago
my cat had a small kitten, when she was about 6 weeks old she messed up on my bed and so on .. she was too small to go to the litter by herself or find the litter box alone in the house so I had to help her
first I prepared a special litter just for the kitten to use .. low edges and placed in the room where the kitten is staying .. and I took her to it and placed her in the litter box .. just placed her in the litter box .. well she tried to taste the contents so it is a good idea to use clean sand and not used ones .. when I used to see her taste it I just took her out and I repeated this after each meal she had (nursing) just to make sure she is disposing in it .. eventually the mom took action into her hands and she used to take her to the litter box and just showed her what to do
later on when the kitten is using the litter regularly you can move the small litter box further on each 4 to 5 days just a bit so that the kitten will not miss it or does not know where it is now .. move it closer to where you want the litter to be at the end ..
now the mother cat is taking the kitten to Her litter box .. soon I will not be using the small one
good luck with your new kittens

I have personally never had any problems with kittens not using the litter box. Even when I only have one kitten. You do have to make sure that the kitten can get in the litter box to use it. I found that a cardboard box that cans had come in worked the best. (Like the flat cases of pepsi or coke) Also alot of kittens do not like the feel of clumping litter on their feet so it might help if you use regular clay litter to help them. I have never had to lock them in a room or anything I just take them and periodically put them in the litter box from whatever place they were at. If I had to get up to get a drink, take them and place them in the litter box. If I get up to go to the washroom, place them in the litter box. If they are going on the floor place the waste in the litter box. The scent should show them that is where they should be going.

Do remember to throughly clean any place where they have gone to the bathroom that isn't the litter box. You may not notice any smell but the kitten will and will go back to that spot over and over.

Hi! Usually kittens know where to go so to speak or they seek out places (such as dirt.) 1. You can try locking them up in a smaller room with a litter pan, 2. Try changing the litter brand--they may not like the smell or texture of it, 3. Some kittens/cats do not like fancy litter pans because they are scared or unfamiliar with them. If they are all not using the litter pan -- I'd go w/ #1 but if they still refuse -- try #2 & #3. Otherwise, call behaviorist or veterinarian. Best wishes!

Keep them confined to one room at a time with the litter box in it until the gist has been gotton through to them, they should naturally use it. They either will use it or never want to use it. Cats by nature are very clean animals and want to always be that way but im not saying that every once in awhile you will get an exception to the rule but if all the siblings are using the box the rest will follow-hopefully!

After the kittens have had a meal, put them (one at a time) into the litter box and make their paws dig at the litter to show them how its done. they should get the message, I only had to show my kitten once.

When the kitten looks like it might be going to go to the loo pick it up and put it in the litterbox, take hold (gently) of both front paws and encourage them to scratch, cats naturally 'dig' in the wild and showing them that this is where they need to dig will do the trick. You should only need to do this once or twice.

I agree with everyone else.

WATCH the kittens. When they look like they are ready, put them in the box.

The only thing I would add is this: also gently use their front feet to scratch and dig a bit, once they are in the box.

They should get the idea very quickly.

when the kitten does a poo on the floor pick it up and place it in the tray then show them where it is this should encourage them to do more in the tray, and make sure when they have an accident out of the tray you thouroghly clean it and remove the smell otherwise they will go where the scent is. goodluck
