I was clearing out my garden at the weekend and got bitten by a spider that got caught in my clothes. I didn't really get a good look at it. what can I put on the spider bite? I have a red bite mark where it bit me and it was painful when it happened.

I've put anti-histamine cream on it because I am allergic to mosquito bites and I was worried what reaction I could get. So far it just looks like a big red mark about the size of a pea. It actually has never itched.

Luckily we have no really poisonous (to us) spiders in the UK. Any venom that might be causing an irritation should be neutralised by applying some vinegar or lemon juice.

God with climate changing and strange objects being brought into the country I'd go to the doctors pronto and explain what has happened as i know a man who found an unusual spider, kept it in a tank, fed and watered it, researched it and found it was a dangerous spider brought in from Australia, he could have been killed. They had to inject the spider to kill it b4 being able to take it away. It was black with a red stripe. They say that the spider could have climbed into some cargo and come into the country that way. and because we had a heat wave it survived quite happily.

OK go to your local GP and tell him what happened if the pills he gives you don't work

go to local zoo or uni with a zoology dept as some spider also inject there young in to victims so the young eat there way out mice are what the spiders usually bite

but better safe than sorry

I wonder if it may be a good idea to take a hayfever and allergy tablet if they agree with you, as this might work fast from within your body, giving a bit of extra boost against allergic reaction.

Boots sell antihistamine creams and little things you give yourself an electric shock with to help the itch.
