Pets - 16 July 2006

My Black Labs ears are a little swollen at the end and they feel like they have little needles poking out of them. Does anyone know what this can be and how I can treat it? Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.

I have a Pomeranian! She is miserbly allergic to fleas! She breaks out in large welts and itches "INSANELY!" She's ripping all her hair out in chunks! Is there anything I can do for her or give her to give her some releaf? I treat them faithfully and it works, but they still get bit when they go outside and that's when it happens! I've taken her to the vet and they give her a few steroids but I don't want to keep doing that to her! Are there any more natural products out there?

we are about to move into a house that has a pool. we also have cats...should we have to worry about our cats falling into the pool during the day, or worse in the middle of the night?? (this is only an issue because our our house has "dog/cat doors" that lead to the outside of the lanai where the pool is)

i know i probably dont have to worry about it for awhile since she is only 5 months but when should i get her spayed because i would rather have her not go into heat at all. Its quite obnoxious

Lucy is a seven week old Chihuahua. I am taking her to get her shots this weekend.

The lady at the hospital told me that she will only be able to get one shot (a 5 in one booster). She told me over the phone that my puppy will need to get a a total of 4 boosters: one shot every three weeks over a 12 week period. What shots are in this booster? (parvo?, distemper?, etc.?)

What should I expect before getting the shot at the pet hospital, during, and after getting the shot at home? Will my dog feel weird?

Somebody viciously left a rabbit out in a field still it it's cage. The cage was full of feces, urine and maggots. We brought it home, bathed it, fed and watered it. It is better but has an open sore on it's foot and patches of missing fur. We don't have the money to take it to a vet. Any ideas on where we can take it to get care for it and a place that will not take it from us. We've already fallen in love with it. It's name is George.

If anyone could see what the poor scared animal goes through when pitched out in a strange place, no one would be so cruel. Our Bengal polydactyl (many-fingers and toes) cat is such a prize. He was crying and scared and would creep up to eat our cats' food and run away again. He had to contend with our territorial cats to snatch a tiny bit of food. It took months to catch him, and more months before he was brave enough to come out and socialize. Please don't ever drop off a pet. They won't just go to a house and be accepted.

Initially seen late at night as it ran across our feet , thought it was a rat. as it was dark
subsequently seen the following evening diving into the water and swimming under to get a duckling. did not think it was a rat.
