Some people don't give a crap about anyone else and just take what they want. But next time, it's best and safest to keep your pup INSIDE the house where he won't be lonely or in danger. Dogs are social animals that hate to be alone.
BEFORE you get any dog you should read some great books on training. (Try not to pick books randomly - there are a lot of bad books out there also!) These are some of my favorites and you can get them on Amazon.com
What All Good Dogs Should Know – Volhard http://www.volhard.com/
Good Owners, Great Dogs - Brian Kilcommins
Dog Tricks : Eighty-Eight Challenging Activities for Your Dog from World-Class Trainers by Haggerty and Benjamin
Don't Shoot the Dog - Pryor
Training Your Dog: The Step by Step Method - Volhard
Dog Problems - Benjamin
Cesar's Way - Cesar Millan
Also, watch the Dog Whisperer on the National Geographic Channel. Cesar Millan is the best trainer I've ever seen on TV.

Find a good breeder by going to www.akc.org or talking to people at dog shows. You can also find info about the breed clubs on the akc site - they probably have a rescue group where you can get an older dog for less money. The best breeders will be members of their breed club, promoting healthy dogs with great temperaments. They should ask you a bunch of questions to make sure their puppy will be getting a good home. If all a "breeder" seems to care about is whether your check will clear, you can be sure he won't care a week later when the pup is dying from distemper or parvo and you want your money back.
Whatever you do, DON'T go to a pet shop, a flea market or buy one sight-unseen off the Internet!!!! You'll pay top dollar for what is usually a poor quality puppy mill dog. And you'll be supporting one of the cruelest industries in the country. The breeding animals are often kept in deplorable conditions - spending their entire lives in small wire-bottomed cages. They probably haven't been vaccinated against contagious diseases or tested for any health or temperament problems or genetic diseases - that costs money and cuts into their profits. A female is often bred every time she comes into heat. When her poor little body can't take it any more, she is often clubbed in the head and tossed into a dumpster or an open ditch. Most puppy mills ship their pups to pet stores at wholesale prices and many pups die before they even get there.
These so-called "breeders" have now figured out that they can use the internet to ship a dog directly to the customer and thus make more money by cutting out the middleman. If you buy a dog from out of state, good luck getting your money back if there's something wrong with the pup. These people count on you becoming instantly attached to the poor little guy and being willing to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars at the vet to treat whatever is wrong with him.

Good question, I've had a lot of things stolen from me over the years. The only thing is I can figure is some people figure it's OK to take from others because of their circumstances. For instance if someone is hungry they steal to survive. Why would someone take a puppy? Maybe they have no friends. I've been told that most of the time the people who steal from you are people you know, NOT STRANGERS. If you think about it you could probably figure out who took your dog from you.

The sad thing is that some people just don't care.
Are you sure it was stolen and didn't run away? Next time you get a puppy (hopefully from a shelter or a respectful breeder (NOT a puppy store) you'll have it microchipped so if it does get lost or stolen and ends up in a shelter, they'll know who's it is and can get back to you.

Everyone that live around me has purebreds like boxers,Yorkie, huskies, and more. Every year people go around and just take the dogs out of there yards and sell them on the Internet. So everyone that has a dog has locks on their gates to keep people out of their yard and protect their animals. My best friend had a White Husky Cristal blue eyes. These two guy got in their back yard and were gonna put her in their truck but the neighbor walk out and yelled at the dog to get it back in the fence and those guys sped off.
Seven week old boxers was outside to use the bathroom and he was out about 10min the owner came back and someone had stole it out of yard. that was a different friend of mine that that happened to.It is SOO sad that people do that

O! I feel so bad for you. Those kind of people are just greedy, little morons. How can they do that? You should call the police. I feel so bad. (how could someone do that?)
Oh and not to be mean or anything but F.Y.I you don't leave an 8 week old puppy outside. It's better to have them pee in your house instead of someone taking them.

Maybe they took it because you left it outside without feed and water.......they may have thought you were abusing the animal. Let me guess it was an "outdoor dog"...I probably would have taken it too, that is if I saw it outside without food or water, or if it was out there all day or all night at only 8 weeks old.

I clicked on here to make a smart alec remark, but your puppy story stopped me. I'm sorry for your loss. People can be so cruel. Don't let the cruelty of some people make you hard. Stay loveable and you win. Just hope who ever took the puppy loves it half as much as you did.

I hope your puppy was stolen by someone who will love it and not just got loose and wandered off. If you get another one, consider crating it inside during the day when you are gone.
