Shave your kitty

2006-07-16 07:26:48 · answer #1 · answered by Jay 1 · 0 0

My friend had the same problem, she has a persian male and while he was sleeping, he had a big fat knot on his chest! She took him inside the bathroom and washed him with cat hair conditioning shampoo, and then shaved the knot off, the fur grew back fast, so no need to worry about your furry cat's knots, just do what my friend did, that might help you off.Keep brushing the cat's fur if the shampoo doesn't work or you can't find it in your petstore, and take it to pet grooming professionals(petsmart,petco...) if all this doesn't work.
Goodluck!

As far as I know, there are only two ways to make this happen. 1 shave the cat [ not really an option ] or 2 brush the cat. You will have to gentle. Remember if it hurts to brush knot out of your own hair. Then it hurt the cat as well.

Well i would calm my animal down first and then i would cut out the knots that aren't as close to the skin and then i would get the ones close to the skin ,but be very care full because you could cut you cat very easily and after i was done i would call the groomers and get an appointment to get my animals hair cut/shaped up and then i would let it grow back out , but make sure you keep its hair brushed every day !!!

You need to cut the knot as close as you can get to the skin (without nipping them) then brush the rest out.

I had to do this with my cat and she didn't like it much, but if you can get one or two every day and brush a bit every day, in a few days, the knots will be gone.

First off you should probaly try a pet conditioner. If that does not work take the cat to a groomer's and brush a lot as hair grows back.

Brushing with a rake type brush will usually get the matts out, if not, you may have to take it in to be groomed professionally.

at this point they are probably mats. very gently cut them out. be careful not to get to close to the skin. then brush, brush, brush. everyday. it's the only way to keep them from coming back.
