I know that there needs to be a male and female tree for them to produce fruit, but does anyone know if the climate in California permits it? Thank you!
PS. I live in San Rafael...

It is said to be harbored in hard rocks such as granite. Is there any danger in granite counter tops inside a home? I'm pretty sure the answer is no, but it seemed worth asking.

I'm buying a new vacum and I want consumer feedback from other persons. I have been to the retailers, viewed sites and read up on the material. The one thing I have not done is talked to others, this is the reason for this question. I currently own a Hoover-bag type.

From what I've read so far, vacuum-packing prolongs the shelf-life of food. Is this type of storage applicable to garlic? Why?

The fireplace in our home is an open fireplace with a place for a screen. I am just wondering how well this type of fireplace will work and if it is safe enough. If anyone has any ideas or answers please let me know. Thanks.

Hi,
Were are thinking of moving to Savannah, and although we've been there before and really loved it, we've heard it is not so safe, especially near downtown. But since were a younger couple, we would like to find a neighborhood we can really settle down in and maybe have kids in a few years. We love the older style bungalow/craftsman style homes and those kind of older neighborhoods, is there any near Savannah that are safe?

We've used practically everything to clean this, including with micro-fiber cloths. And it still streaks! Is there any product we can clean this stainless steal fridge where it won't streak afterwards?

I would like to keep my heating costs down for the winter. However, because I am in an apartment, I am unable to do anything "permanent". Any ideas on how I can save money?

I don't want to call the landlord since I feel I am always bothering him. I want to do something on my own first.

I am looking for a no contracts apartment home security system.

Theres only one entrance to our apartment as we're on level 2, so the door is the one place that needs covering; I'm looking for something that will make a LOUD noise when the door is opened after I have set the alarm to 'on'.

This may take the form of a laser beam or something similar?

I do have a cat - if she is likely to set it off at night, its not a problem to keep her away in the bathroom, but pls can you state whether the cat would/wouldn't set the alarm off.

Thanks!!!

We need to mark our plates and cups at work with our names but everything we try gets rubbed off in the dishwasher - its a very long and petty story I can assure you! Help would be gratefully received.

Thanks

I read somewhere that conkers keep spiders out of your house as spiders don't like the smell of them. Does anyone know if this is true because I have a massive spider phobia! Thanks

A week ago our dishwasher was leaking. This week we had it replaced, but now I notice little bugs around that area and I'm assuming they are gnats. Very tiny and are just hanging around on the floor by the dishwasher area. Need to go to the store tomorrow and look at sprays, but don't think it will be a long term solution since they do multiply fast from what i've read.
Does anyone know how to get rid of them for good?

These tiny bugs look like some kind of mite and they are dust particle size. You can't even tell they are alive until you look real close and see them moving. Literally there must be millions of them. Any idea what they are and how to exterminate them without an expensive exterminator?

I'm having my new house painted by paint contractor and the whole job will take about 5-6 days.

What is typically the common practice here: do I leave the door key with the contractor for the whole week so he can get in/out, OR do I open the door for him in the morning and lock it when the day is done?

I don't currently live in the new place so having to drive back and forth to open/close the door for the painters is kind of a hassle. But if I leave the key with him I'm worried he'll make a duplicate of it or something.

What to do? Please advise. Thanks!

Well, since there is a watering ban for most states, I've been wondering about some ways to gather water. I'm working on a project at school which involves plants and we don't know how we're going to get water for them and not get arrested...or fined? Help me out.

I have two tomato plants that are growing very well. One is super tall... about 6 feet tall and the other is about 3 feet tall. The 3 foot one is already growing a tomato but the really tall one is getting the yellow buds but then they are falling off and nothing is really growing. What is the process for a tomato plant? After they get the yellow buds should they start growing tomatoes?
