Well, since there is a watering ban for most states, I've been wondering about some ways to gather water. I'm working on a project at school which involves plants and we don't know how we're going to get water for them and not get arrested...or fined? Help me out.

I personally use the water from my washing machine via a grey water hose. This not only waters the garden but creates a soapy cover over the leaves that stops insects eating them, it gives some protection from the sun and it helps break down tough soil too.

I don't know about any watering ban, but. How about collecting rain water. Gutters from building were directed to a barrel at the end of the spout for water. You can also collect dew, make a tight plastic sheet and place something heavy in the center, put a pail underneath and the dew will collect on the bottom of the plastic, run to the low spot and drip. Yea not much but better than nothing.

Is it a water ban on a ban one the use of city water. How about taking containers to the local creek?
