Is it a really valuable (sentimental or monetary) book? If so there are places that will re-bind or repair books. If it's just a useful one I'd use duck tape, or take out the pages I need and keep them in a folder.

I applaud the fact that it has nothing to do with vampires or werewolves. That's a pleasant change. There have been so many people on here lately asking if they can get published at 12, or 14, or whatever. The publisher doesn't care diddly squat how old you are. What colour you are. What race you are or any other personal details. All the publisher cares about is a well written, interesting story. That's it. As to the story - you've started something interesting here but there are a couple of points - stiletto heels don't click on damp brick surfaces. Nothing clicks on a damp surface. When you come to 'how did you know my name?" You've repeated yourself. You can either think it, or say it, but not both. Anyway, have at it and see what happens

I always repair broken ones by running some wood glue down the edges of the spine and a little in the middle - makes a good strong joint - just let dry overnight.

If it is valuable, have it professionally restored, if it is just a handy book, buy some plastic pockets (available at any stationers) and remove all the pages and put into pockets in a ring binder.

Depending on how valuable the book is would depend on how I would fix it.

If it is valuable then take it to a professional restoration place. If not, then use some wood glue or Gorrilla Glue.
