I have hard water with lots of iron in it. We have a water softener to combat this. If we didn't have the softener, our water would be orange coming out of our faucets. It's not that good to be drinking water with the softener salt in it, especially now that I'm pregnant. What would be the best water filter for me? Should I get one that attaches to the faucet or a pitcher with a filter?

A employed a builder to carry out some work on my house ready to sell. He quoted me £1000 labour + additional for materials when required saying the job would take 2 weeks. After 3 weeks he had done a third of the work and I paid him half labour and all materials to date. He then vanished for 3-4 days and reappeared saying he had been away (failed to tell me).....then 6 weeks later he finally finished. I went to look at the work (I dont live in the house) which was shocking, he fitted 4 new doors and none fit correctly, he boxed in CH pipes in living room which look awful, he decorated 2 rooms which he only did the walls and nothng else (not ceiling, woodwork) and the garden which looks no diff. I explaned that I wasnt happy and he is now not accepting it. It will cost me £500-£1000 to rectify his errors but he refuses to sort it and he is now demanding the rest of his money without finishing the job. We had no written agreement for the work. What do I do? he still has door key

my submersibal ?? spellcheck well pump stoped working a while back after trying to fix the wiring i let my supposed "electrician" friend try to fix it he ran some 20 dollar walmart drop cord over 220 well pump line that has to run about 200 feet of wire i believe it didnt hurt the pump because afterwards i fixed the wiring reran the exact type of wire and the pump worked althowe it only pumped about 5 gallons of water and then dryed out we had been in a drought for a while so i was guessing thats were that came from so i decided to drop my well pump down 2-3 feet to obtain more water so i lifted the pump up unhooked it from the pressure tank and tied it off and ran to the store to buy 5 foot of piping i came back a day or so later and hooked the pipe droped it down 3 feet turned the pump on and no water? not a drop then the pump starts to overheat

could the water table droped 3-4 feet more in 2 days? also the pumped is now jamed ! the rope will not budge i believe it caved in

I have an addition built onto the first story of my house which has a flat roof. I would like to put a doorway in the second story of my house and change the flat roof to a balcony/patio off of the 2nd story master bedroom. How difficult would this be and what procedure should I take to get it done? I would really like to do this project without hiring a contractor.
