Not familiar with any state requiring an appliance repair person to hold an electrical license. They can work only on appliances though, no home or business connected wiring part of the structure or attachments.
ALL states require electrical licenses doing any work on residential, commercial and industrial premises if you are a contractor. If you work for a contractor, you work under his license. If you are employed by a company and do maintenance for them, no license is required in most states. If you do work on your own home, most states accept this also. All work must meet code though. This holds true for other trades as well- HVAC and, Plumbing. Each state requires their license. You cannot work in different states under another states license, period!

No stae requires a license for any tech. I am an HVAC Tech. I work in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. Kentucky has a licence for HVAC and my certification covers me in all 3 states. Only service installations require a licensed electrician.

Some states I worked in you didn't need a license to wire a house, only the knowledge that wire is used for the purpose. Believe that, or not. I worked with telephone men that were laid off and, were wiring homes, plumbers that were framing, etc. some states don't care or, look the other way.

I didn't think you had to be licensed for that. Some places you dont even need a license to put in an electrical service.
