Recently purchased a rolltop desk... tambour has a 5x3-inch hole drilled through it near the top. (Previous owners drilled hole for power cords, didn't realize that rolltop was UP and accidentally drilled through rolltop, too!) Any way to repair this (is it possible to patch with similar tambour?) or should I just replace the entire thing? Hubby even thought about extending the top with a wood piece, just above the tambour, to come down over the hole and hide it. Any good ideas?? Thanks! :)

I'm pretty sure there must be a dead mouse or bat in my [interior] wall. Any ideas about how to get it out? Do I have to demolish that section of the wall?

I (and one of my cats) heard the scratching inside the wall one night, and I assumed my cat, who was fixated witht staring at that part of the wall, would catch it. The mouse must have never come out and now I can smell rotting flesh. Ewww.

Please help.

I have a 3 or 4 year old double oven and we put the main oven on to pre-heat. Without warning the glass door just shattered and exploded onto the floor.

Any idea why?

I'm a bit worried in case the top one does the same.

My husband cleaned the door the day before, but he swears he only used diluted washing up liquid on it (but he did use oven cleaner on the insides).

I was not sure if this can be fixes by myself (like a washer replacement issue)The valve is leaking (dripping) when turned off. The pipe runs from outside, through the block and then it is threaded into the water line.
I live in a very small town in Pa.

I changed my ceiling light in the second floor this morning. Before I took off the original light I turned off my main switch located in the basement (i.e. no electricity for the entire second floor).
I'm just wondering, if I just turn off the switch for that light, is it still safe to touch the wire for that light ? Because I don't want to walking up and down several times next time....

In my son's room, we realized that we are changing the bulbs in his room like every few days to a week. Not just the main one in his ceiling fan, but in his closet as well.. any ideas why this is happening? We've been in this house for about 3 years & this just started. No where else in the house. Any advice welcome.. Thanks.

A hardware store salesman told me that until the new shipment of my size air filters comes in I can take the filters to a gas station air pump and blow out all the filth with the air pump.

Does anyone with expertise in heating and air filters know if this is safe and effective to do?

Does anyone know why a high-pitched whining noise comes from my room when I plug in electrical items to the power socket? Random sockets, random items, but the noise is quiet and very high like a ringing in the ears; and you can't tell which direction it's coming from.
I don't know anything about these things so just thought I'd ask and see if anyone does.
