A few days ago my wife woke me up with news that the lights were out in both the fridge and freeze in our 7 year old Frididaire side by side. I found the breaker tripped, reset it, and went about my day. Today several days later I've noticed that the ice maker isn't working. I removed the unit from the freezer and it had ice cubes in the mold (not a water supply problem). I thawed out the mold and examined the mechanical parts - everything looks ok - nothing broken, I could even turn the gear in the direction of the arrow and it moved. The freezer is as cold as it normally is. What else could be the problem? My guess is that the motor has burnt up and when it did it caused the breaker to trip, but I'm no expert on these things. If that's the case, would I be better off replacing the entire ice maker or replacing individual parts? Any thoughts would be most appreciated! Thanks.

While cleaning the underside of my lawnmower the other day, I tilted it to the wrong side - with the air filter facing down. Some oil came out through the air filter, so I had to replace that, but the engine does not start. Does anyone know what part(s) need(s) to be replaced/cleaned ?

We Previously have a Prima 3400 XL. Now It turns on and off on the GFCI.

Its feature:
Filter pump with a flow at 3 head of 1000gph makiit suitable to run filters of up to 2500 gallons capacity - max flow 1800gph and max head 15

The pump was run dry when there was a blackout of electricity. Any suggestion for a pump that can handle some solids (fine leaves) and does not die when the water is out. Perhaps turns off automatically when there is no water.

The pump is for a cascading waterfalls about 500 gallons water in it. 30 feet in length. Around 3 feet vertical height from the top to the bottom of the stream.

High efficiency is a plus coz it runs 24/7

he water softner system cost around $500 at Lowes and with installation and everything it will roughly be $1000 (including reverse osmosis filteration).

On the other hand, we had a representative from GE-Aqua-pure selling water softner+osmosis system with installation for $2900. He claims the system is better than HomeDepot and other places. Does anyone has experience to share with water softners. Thanks

The toliet in question is in my basement, hasen't been hooked up in years, and has a rusted metal flange on it, i've bought a new flange, but after some inspecting it was brought to my attention that the old rusted flange was *leaded* in whatever that means. For the most part the flange is still in place, but unfortantly the little *hooks* that hold the bolts are rusted, is there any type of cement, or glue that could be used to hold these down, the toliet only has to be used for one night, and please don't say *call a plumber* if i could i would have already.

The health dept. is evaluating/testing ALL septic tanks in the county. They want to be sure they are not dumping inappropriate waste into nearby streams and properly function. The health dept guy wants me to show him where the "effuent pipe" or distal most terminal/run-off pipe is "after" the septic bed. He wants to collect a sample of the water from that point. The system is 18 years old and trouble-free. I am not the original owner I live in a woods that includes heavy brush. I can't locate this point. There was a diagram drawn in the records but no measurements. I have been studying the ground and pushing a steel rod into the ground. for two weeks. I have dug up a couple of indentations and what might seem like soft spots. I even tried "brass rods" to see if they will cross. I am running water (with a hose) in the bed system (after the tanks) to see if I can find a wet area. How am I going to locate this ...any ideas ??? Thanking you in advance!

I have a garbage disposal that don't work. I think the motor is burnt out. I was wondering if anyone knew how hard it was to just take the disposal out and replace it with regular pipe. Is this something that I could do myself or would I have to hire a plumber. Any advice would be a big help. Thanks in advance to all who will take time to pass their advice on.

My existing oven is fitted with a cable and plug, new one needs to be hardwired. It says in the instructions for the new oven not to use cable and plug.

The socket is a dedicated one for the cooker and has it's own breaker on the distribution unit.

Can I simply remove the socket behind the oven and use a length of the correct cable to connect the oven to it? (using the correct connectors obviously).....Or do I need some kind of device with a fuse in it?
