As long as you work out ahead of time who has to pay for the emptying and repairs of the septic tank, I can't see an issue with it. Just be sure to have a written document stating who is responsible for what. Repairs or replacement of septic tanks can be very expensive, and the emptying isn't too cheap either. And make sure you put the signs of in the bathrooms...."If it's yellow, let it mellow, if it's brown, flush it down." Save money that way!

Nothing is wrong with a septic system if it is properly maintained. All homes outside city limits have a septic systems since there is no sewer system to hook up to.
Check your rental agreement to see who is responsible for maintenance and/or repair on the septic system. If the system is old there could be a problem with tree roots growing into the system and blocking it. If it is a newer system there should be no problem unless you abuse the system by flushing things down the toilet that shouldn't be.

Nothing wrong in renting a home with a septic tank as long as it is well maintained and no odour leaks from it.

ONLY if it has been recently emptied, cleaned, treated. It's probably more ecologically sound than cities with sewer systems, but like anything else, has to be maintained. When renting, make sure it's been maintained, and that the lease spells out who is responsible for maintenance during your lease. Also learn what you can and should not use, certain detergents, solvents, etc., can harm the system. Walk in the yard over it and look for soft spots, problem areas.

spetic tanks work proper as long as you keep them maintained with the stuff like rid-x, i use to own a home with a speptic tank and i didnt even have to clean it for close to 5 years before i had to have it pumped out,and that is with ALL the water in the house going into it bathtubs, showers, washing maching and all, no big deal..... if the house in nice rent it, id have the landlord pump the system out before you move in and just use the rid-x stuff you shoudnt have any issues at all...

yes why not.... since you are only renting- not owning, you wouldnt be responsible for costs for possible problems associated with the tank.
