I always knew it as "Devil's Backbone", but can't find any plant by that name in the "computer world". The plant grows crooked stalks with varigated (small) leaves. actually it's quite ugly. I believe that it is also drought tollerant. It is not bamboo.the stalks grow in a cluster. Have never seen it flower.

I have a basement apartment, and little woodland creatures keep jumping into our porch and being unable to get out, because it's underground. I'm wondering if there's anything I could plant in my flowerbed that would deter these creatures from leaping into the porch in the first place.

I live in the northern Great Lakes region, and I am looking for a type of flower or groundcover that would work well for two areas against my house. One is in morning and midday light, and afternoon shade, the other is in full shade. Both areas are about 2' by 10'. I want something that will fill the area, and be decorative but won't grow out of control. Thanks.

We had some large limbs cut off our huge tree last fall (we live in Michigan) and now with the warm weather they are dripping water. They have been doing so for about 5 days now. Is this harmful to the tree? Will it stop on its own? Is there anything we can do? Thanks for any help

alright, this is what i am trying to do. i am wanting to give somebody a gift in a small flower pot with just one, pretty flower . i need a flower that, one, is very pretty, can grow in a small pot, can grow inside (with a decent amount of sunlight) and will live for a fairly long time given its taken care of properly.
what i want is, when i give the gift, for the plant to just be a small sprout and over the next about 2 weeks to grow a decent amount into the flower.

if anybody even understands what im talking about give me a hand. somebody who knows a thing or two about flowers.

I live in deep South Texas and have been interested in planting a small tomato garden. I will probably be planting them in mostly shaded areas. What tomato varieties are in my best interest to plant and what conditions do they require?

I like wild patches and then I like to put pots of things here and there during the season... especially if they are scented and can be taken around from spot to spot .... and since they can fill in when something has stopped blooming ... not just flowers, but ferns are nice ...

Thank you for any thoughts...

Seriously, why are all these professionals and equipment needed. Why can't you just dig a big hole, line it with concrete, fill it with water, and stick in a portable pump?

Why wouldn't it work?

For example, tomatoes and marigolds are said to be happy together ... and some basil on the other side of the tomatoes, but a little away from the marigolds, please.....!!!

I wonder, because things occur in nature a certain way .... maybe it is soil... or maybe it is something completely different ....

And what about the plants that really do NOT get on well together? Have you found things like that?

Please say?

The meter is about 10 feet from the curb and I would call the water company but they're closed already. I want to plant a tree about 5 feet from it.

If not, what distance should I keep from the meter?

I live in Chicago and unfortunately, I did not get a chance to bring my potted roses indoors. Is there any chance they could still be alive? The canes look black and some like dry wood.
