I have a long chain link fence and I would like to plant something to block the view of my neighbor's yard. Any suggestions? I would prefer a vine of some sort to bushes but what are the best (and most cost effective) options?

Essentially I have a 6' High dogeared picked fence that I'm making. How much of the 6' fence post should be burried underground that will support the fence. The fence will be roughly 30' x 24' (corner fence).

I'm hoping to be buying my mothers house from her and she has a huge, I mean huge back yard. Now, I noticed the ant hills and seen snakes back thier too. I plan to put a fence to block the open space she has behind the back yard but I'm still nervouse cause I have a five year old and lots of nieces and nephews to think about! If someone could give me some pointers that would be great. Thanx!!!

I want to grow herbs and vegetables in my backyard, and am sick of paying for plastic containers which are inconveniently shaped. I intend to look around for things that can be converted for my needs. I know that treated wood is bad because of the chemicals used in the treatment. What else is bad? I read about people using old tires -- is this toxic? Also, some plastics often have stuff leaking into water, such as those popular Nalgene bottles that leak estrogen-imitating chemicals that are bad for humans -- would this mean that plastic is bad for growing plants intended for consumption?

To get rid off mole, where do you buy and place the trap. If I add rat poison with peanut butter, would it work? Even though, the food source claimed to be grub, I do not see grub problems, my loan does not show it and nor do I see Japanese beetles eating my dogwood trees. This is a nuisance that I can't stand. My whole neighborhood is complainng about this creature. Appreciate anyone sharing based on their personal experience on how to get rid off or kill this nuisance creature.

if I build a flat bed trailer to haul 2 riding lawn mowers and a few other things (8x16 deck would be ideal) then what should I look at or onto for the axle? or should I think differently on the whole 8x16 thing. I have started trying to draw a scale model. but I am stuck as far as the axle dimensions. p.s. I am trying not to spend a million bucks here, there is a reason I am building it my self..... Thank you for any help you can give me...

Hello,

I might be moving to a house which has a south east facing back garden. There is no garage or anything blocking the sun as it comes from the south at the side of the house too.

At the moment I live in a house with a north facing garden and becuase the garden is soo small the house shadows most of it and I can't even put my washing out to dry - my neighbour behind me has hers out all day - because she's south facing and it makes me soooo sad my garden is always so damp and full of vine weavel - my poor children!!!!

Anyone know???!!!

Thanks,

Sophia

We have a "postage stamp" orchard that includes peaches, plums, apples, apricots and pears. The trees tried to fruit last year but the fruit just fell off after a couple of days of growth. After opening the fallen fruit we found worms. My trees currently have blossoms on them and I don't want to spray yet, when is the best time?

ok so im a big tough person not really afraid of anything apart from 4 things spiders, moths, wasps, and bees!

and they all come out in the summer (well actually spiders are all year round....but back to the question!)

im terrified of wasps and bees they are my biggest fear, i got chased by 3 yesterday (i probably wasnt it was prob just my paranoia that they was following) anways i suffer form anxiety so it really doesnt help, and i have bright dyed blonde hair....IS THEIR ANYWAY! i can repel them?? is it save to spray repelent on yourself??

or if any of u live near brighton in the uk, is their a place where their are like human controlled nest things so maybe i can just try and conqure this fear? its really bad, i refuse for any windows to be open day or night, day because of wasps and night cos of moths, and it seems every year my fears get worse, im meant to set an example for my nephew not teach him to be afraid of bugs!

Our backyard slopes. We do not have the resources to rent a backhoe and level out the yard for the swing set. I need to know if it's possible to install a metal swing set such that the yard is not a factor (perhaps burying the legs on one side). All suggestions are appreciated.

My sister and I are redoing our front yard and we want some low maintenance flowers. We want them to be pretty and colorful. We live in Ohio, so it's not super warm or super cold. We're also on a budget so is you could keep money in mind, that'd be great. Thanks!

Is it possible to lay a simple patio (paving slabs with spaces in between filled with gravel) onto a base of compacted soil?

If so, how should I compact the soil? Should a membrane be used? What sort? Is it possible to lay slabs directly onto a membrane? Should there be a slope?
