I have a big tup of 3 courgette plants. They have flowered really well (and still flowering). When the flowers have died, there is just a sort of stem left, which I assuming is the early courgette, but it is only small, really like a small string bean. Is this normal and will the courgettes start to grow? I am keeping them in my concervatory at the moment because the weather here in the UK at the moment is horrendous. First time growing these so any advice would be useful. Thank you in anticipation

I work in a restaurant. Tonight they are going to bomb the place with a pesticide to get rid of the roach problem we are having recently. I am very upset because tommorow I have to go in 3 hours earlier with very little pay to wipe down all the aftermath and restock all the supplies. To top it off my boss is not even going to be there cause he will be enjoying a sunday stroll in the park instead? I am seriously thinking of quitting. Will the chemicals be dangerous for me? Is it worth my health? Please..HELP!!!

it has a filter that also has a fountain. we clean it often of debris from trees and surrounding bushes. it gets about 8 hours of sunshine a day.we chose a black liner to put over the hole we dug in the ground. the fish we buy are usually goldfish and mollies. my mother who had a pond for 30 years says i should get an 8 inch algae eater and a bamboo rake to help clean the algae problem.

I have a mower that when you pull the cord to start it and all sudden when I was mowing and I went into an area of tall grass it started smoking a bit and it shut off. When I went to start it, the chord seemed like it was locked. I couldnt pull it to start it up. SO i found this guy who fixes lawn mowers. I told him I didnt want to put much money into it as I would rather just buy new then. So he said he knew what it was and replaced the top of the mower wich had a new string too. He wanted 25 so I said fine as I wasnt going to pay more than that for no old mower. I went home that day and used it. It started fine then I was mowing and I went over a patch of grass it started smoking a little and died and I went to start it again and it locked up again. I phoned the guy and hes making excuses. I want my money back.

I've had two very large container shrubs on my patio since spring. One of them recently withered away to nothing, and the other is on its way. (I believe they weren't getting enough sun.) I want to put new plants (more shade-tolerant ones) into those containers, and I'm wondering if I need to empty out all of the old soil after removing the dead plants and their roots.

Can I leave the old soil in the pots and then just add new soil to it when I pot the new plants, or do I need to completely empty the (very large) containers and use all new fresh soil?

Thanks very much!

One day I was working in my garden and I knew that I bought tomato seeds so I planted them. The next day I went to my garden and instead of the tomato I was hoping for a giant alien sprouted up instead. Why did this happen?

I have moved into a house with a dirt back yard that is as hard as a rock. the previous tenants used it as a parking lot for their ATV's. I want grass for my kids but do not have a clue on how to get started. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

There is a small underground yellowjacket nest in my front yard - the little buggers have built themselves a hideout. The entrance hole is about the size of a half dollar - I want to declare war on them and win.

I thought about just dropping the end of the hose down there and drowning them, but I fear that won't be effective enough. I don't really want to make a 3rd trip to the store today to buy chemicals to destroy them - An ideas? Some household remedies?

Note, this is somewhat close to the outside of my house, using fire isn't going to be an option.

I have a hibiscus tree and when the flower blooms fall off the seed pods that are left dry and become brown. Should I plant them now and keep the tree inside during the winter so it will grow enough to plant next summer? Or should I wait until after the frost next spring?

I have an area around my back porch that would really benefit from some crawling ivy (I need to create some cover for a slatted wall).

Any recommendations on a good creeping ivy-type of plant that will thrive in a low light area? (Light heavily diffused from the trees directly above.)
