Where else do they grow?

2007-06-29 13:55:33 · 4 answers · asked by happydawg 6

I know it will take until I am at least 100 yrs old to get tall enough to shade anything. Thats mostly the reason I bought it. I just wanted to leave something good behind me after I leave this earth. I love my yard and my home and want to share my enjoyment of nature with someone in the future.
Now back to the tree..... How big should the hole be I plant it in and how often do I water it? Its about 10 feet tall and in a 3 gallon pot.

In the picture its the plant with just the green leaves, none of the pink is part of this plant.

I have this plant and last year when i bought it, it had really pretty flowers, then it completly died. This year it came back but it hasnt produced any flowers or buds. Does anyone know the name of this plant? and how I can get it to bloom.

Just today, I bought a rose called Fame, its a Hybrid Tea Rose, and it says Grandiflora Rose, whatever that means. It has 3 stems one the root, with 2 flowers blooming. I didn't get to plant it yet today, because there was a huge storm which just passed. The wind was so bad it took the cushions and flew them 5 yards away. my stupid dad, throught the cushions into the shed. right were i had the rose which i was trying to protect from the heavy wind and rain. The cushion hit one of the stem and it "cracked". It wasn't falling off or anything or even cut, it was just hanging over, 4 inches below the bloom and 6 inches above the root. I'm doing everything possible to keep it alive, I put two tooth picks around the crack and taped it, and then made sure it would stay straight with a peice of wood and a string, then I watered it. Will it be ok? I'm really worried, since it was so new. Will this rose, and its stem survive? Will it ever flower again? Thanks in advance.

I have a rain bird sprinkler system. The water pressure has been very low. Unlike Wisconsin, we've almost no rain for about a month and a half or so now. the sprinkler water pressure is very low, the pump is full of water, and very little comes out. What might be wrong. I know I can call the landscaper, but honestly I dont' trust him, and I want to do what I can to figure out the problem first, and hopefully I won't have to call him.

It has a twisted trunk, gnarled branches with big green leaves that fall off each fall. Kind of looks like the tree in the Harry Potter movie, only not as large, 7 ft tall is all it is, and not as aggressive. The twigs are twisted also. Seems like once it leaves out each year, new branchs appear with new leaves

We have a miniature rose bush that's pretty healthy, although it has cobwebs on it. Just recently I went to go get rid of them but there are a bunch of really really small white bugs crawling all over the plant!

What are these things? Are they harmful? How do I get rid of them?

I have several different types of flowering plants including geraniums in flower boxes. Almost all of them are developing brown-edged leaves. The only thing I put in the flower boxes is water and every two weeks some liquid fertilizer in water. I'm so disappointed. I've raised them all, except the geraniums, from seeds. I've used potting soil to plant them.

Does anyone know what this could be from? Is there anything I can do about it?

Thanks, Ann

I recently purchased a home in the Seattle area that is perched up on a hill with the yard sloping steeply to the street. It's all grass now on the slope which is NOT easy to maintain. It's too steep for a mower so I need to use the trimmer - which means I'm perched with one foot up, one foot down balancing while I whack the weeds. I'd like to remove the grass altogether and create a terrace garden with either railroad ties or rock. Has anyone taking on a project like this themselves? I really don't have the funds now to pay a landscaping company to do this for me - plus I want the satisfaction of doing it myself. Plus it's not a huge amount of space to complete - only about 30 feet from the house to the street. Any suggestions for best plants to use, best way to remove grass, websites with examples?

Thanks! :)

I moved into a house that has a garden out front. I don't know much about gardening, but would love to learn. This part of the house receives lots of sunlight. The garden is beginning to look overgrown and I need to tend to it, but I don't know how to prune or what to prune and what to do with the "harvested" herbs. Help!

It increases in size every year, and dies down & disappears in the winter. It has large mid green leaves, and in June produces HUGE deep purple lilly like flowers, with a single stamen. These are spectacular to look at, but smell DISGUSTING, like rotting garbage. The flies are attracted to them. I've looked in all my books, to no avail. Anyone out these have any idea what it is. I live in S.E.England.

Just for fun I planted a black oil sunflower seed from my birdfeeder in a cup of plotting dirt. Now the seed has sprouted a root, but the seed is upside down, so the root is heading to the top of the cup. It has already changed its direction so its heading towards the bottom of the cup, but I am worried about the stem when it grows. Should I try to replant it the right way?
