Have an old #9 sickle bar mower. I have trouble mowing the field all the same height. What kind of adustment(s) do I need to make on the mower and or the Ford 8N tractor that I am using?

I would call your county extension agent. Usually they are older and have access to people who have farming experience. I have used a real 7' hand sickle but not one towed by a tractor.

There should be an adjustment block on the three point hitch control of your tractor. You can set it to leave the sickle at the same height every time you lower it.

the problem is you cant because it is attached to the tractor, you are limited on tires , terrain, etc.
