I have a rain bird sprinkler system. The water pressure has been very low. Unlike Wisconsin, we've almost no rain for about a month and a half or so now. the sprinkler water pressure is very low, the pump is full of water, and very little comes out. What might be wrong. I know I can call the landscaper, but honestly I dont' trust him, and I want to do what I can to figure out the problem first, and hopefully I won't have to call him.

How many zones are on your system? Do they all have low water pressure, or is it just one zone?

You may have a cracked underground line, check to see if there is a puddle of water anywhere along where the lines run. There may be debris clogging the dsitributor valves that supply the different zones. There may be debris build-up in the spray nozzles. This is the easiest to fix yourself. Just remove each nozzle, disassemble, remove any visible debris or dirt clogging it, reassemble it, and reinstall into the system. Voilá!

you say you have a pump? check to see how many gallons per minuter are actually coming out of it. then see how many gallons per minute each of your heads put out. you may need a stronger pump. for example, 6 hunter i-20 rotors with 3gpm nozzles need at least 18gpm to run. more to run efficiently. if you are gettin very low pressure out of the pump itself, i would say get a new pump, or it may need the filter cleaned. they need maintence every now and then.
if these all check out okay, see if you have a leak somewhere when you turn on the system, taking away all the pressure.
depending on your pump, you may have to wade into a creek or river to clean it. (wether its submersible or not).

hope this helps.

has it always been low?
the installer may have run too small a pipe, or too many heads.

also, its very rare that actuall debris clog up all the valves. maybe just one, but not often. at all.
