you really can't determine because volume varies, and material composition is always in consistent. the best thing to do is determine weight by taking a sample and placing soil in 1 cubic foot container pack down soil in 5 lifts in the container scrap off top and get weight. there are 27 cubic feet in 1 yard and a triaxle is 25 yards so
weight of 1 cubic foot x 27 x25 = weight in truck
oh and divied by 2000, however there is long, short, standered, and meteric tone so that will change to

Top soil can weigh from 2000 to 2500 pounds per cubic yard depending on it's water content. Multiply that by the cubic yard capacity of your truck and divide by 2000. Most over the road triple axle dump trucks are ten or twelve yard, not twenty five.

It is easy to figure but only if you have the dimensions of the dump bed. Multiply length x width x depth of material in feet and then divide by 27. That will tell you how many cubic yards you have and then you can locate tables of common materials that will tell you how much a particular product weighs by cubic yard and multiply that number by the cubic yards in the dump truck.

On average you will most likely only get 12 - 15 cubic yards on a load.
