I just bought a Don Juan and I want to take good care of it. I've read that monthly fertilizers are best, but I don't know what brands are best. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

An animal has apparently stripped off a large piece of bark off my young tree. It is right down to the exposed wood. Is there something I should be doing to protect/cover this?

I have a pretty large hibiscus plant that has always done wonderfully, however lately it is looking kind of thin and has a lot of yellow leaves on it, what should I do? I've never had one of these plants (or hardly any plants) before so I don't know anything about pruning it or anything. Help would be greatly appreciated!!

I have 5 oak trees in the front of my house that leave no sun in between them and the house. last fall we tore the ground up, hitting alot of small roots, planted new seed, strawed it and watered daily. This year it is not coming back up. Any suggestions as to what kind of seed to use or other things to try?

I've looked at places like Lowe's and Home Depot in the past but not very recently. Is there a certain time of year spider plants can be found. Should I try a local nursery? Thanks

This particular assy has turn off valves on both sides that turn ever so freely. (can't tighten). Also, what is the purpose of the two smaller unconnected outlets each with its own shutoff. When I shut these down water appears to overflow the top of unit. Unit is very difficult to see as a home vacumn system was placed just below it.

I have an outdoor container garden because where we live our back yard is all rocks. There is no dirt to plant in but I still wanted fresh herbs and some veggies.

I have tomatoes, garlic, Snap peas, and some herbs. The tomatoes seem to be staying the same. Not growing, nothing. The peas died completely (were vining up the side of the house, I think the house cooked the plants! Im in California) and everything else is just not getting bigger.
I water every day, used miracle grow soil.
Is there a secret i dont know?

I am so confused. I would like to know which type of mulch to buy for my flower garden? I have used what is in my yard to the best of my ability but will need something more. Cypress, Pine, Red Bark...Nuggets? What is best? I have never had to buy it before where I used to live. I am in NW AR if that helps also. Thank you for any advice.

I like dandelion greens in salad and would like to grow them this summer. How do you start them? I'd dig up the neighbor's plants and transplant them, but I'm concerned about pesticides.

I run an in-home learning center/daycare. I am in the process of redoing my backyard & around the swingset I want to make it more kid friendly & safe. Our landscaper has suggested kiddie kushion mulch. I have researched it but found nothing on whether it attracts insects (ants especially) or not. If anyone has information that can help me let me know! Thanks!

I have a beautiful blue flowering clematis - but I planted it in the wrong spot. I would like to move it against my house where I just dug up some lemon balm - which I am sorry I planted (it overtakes the area!).

Chicago climate - it's been 60 - 70's lately -but not the norm. Is this a good time - or wait till mid-April. We could still get snow here!

My question is - How do I make sure I don't have any residual
lemon balm - and what's the best way to transplat this healthy clematis. (it's been 3 years in the same spot - it's really full and I hate to kill it.) Thanks!

We HAD to get rid of the HUGE tree because it was an accident waiting to happen. We live in Northeast Florida and hurricanes are happening all the time. We have three of these big guys around our house and this was the one that would crush our home if it fell. So we cut it all the way down. We've shredded most of it, but now we're left with HUGE trunk pieces. Most of which are too heavy for just one person to pick up. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do with all this wood that's just laying in my yard now ??? I don't want to have to pay the dump a few hundred dollars to take it... I've checked with local furniture shops and they're not interested. Also, we don't have any sawmills around here either...

So now I don't really know what to do... please help ! Thanks !!

what flowers would be good for my yard? The garden would get a lot of sun during the day, and i live in a town right on the chesapeake bay. i tend to travel a lot, so it would need to be able to get by without watering for up to ten days, but when i am home, i am willing to tend it three to four time a week. any suggestions?
