there is a hole near the deck leading under the deck ,my deck is very low to the ground, how do i get rid of him and when do they come out the most during the day or at night i seen one during the day.

you can sprinkle cayenne pepper or black pepper around ,mulch around the deck they dont like mulch

There is many ways to take care of a ground hog. You can use a live trap and remove the animal that way. You could use a lethal control trap over the opening, or you could shoot them when they come out.
Where do you live! You must know the laws of the town you live in and the trapping laws in your state. Are you allowed to transport the animal? Are you allowed to use lethal control? Can you discharge a gun in your area? You should get the answer to these questions before you proceed.
After the animal is gone exclude you deck and prevent them from doing this again. If you have a low deck this will be habitat for other animals as well as ground hog. Remove the habitat and remove the problems.

Good luck. Groundhogs are tenacious and are usually happy where they live. Groundhogs are day creatures and enjoy munching grass and just about anything in your garden. They are easy to catch in a have a heart trap but once caught they must be moved at least 5 miles away or they will just come home. Fortunately they do not have huge litters so you may be able to catch the few that you have. Once the younsters are mature, the parent will drive them out of the current territory so they do not stay in groups. Males are solitary. Females nurture the young but kick them out farily early on in life. The male and female do not den up together.

Put a big spotlight out there that shines on his hole. If groundhogs see their shadows they go back in their holes, right? That's what they say on groundhog day.

no longer efficient on groundhogs yet I have discovered to get rid of floor moles is them sunlight plant existence (or others) on a stick you stick interior the floor and the wind blow around the vibration chases them off wish this helps

There are different kinds of traps u can buy or u can just shoot it. They normaly come out early in the morning or towards dusk

set traps,smoke bombs in holes, get a dog ect.
