I've looked at places like Lowe's and Home Depot in the past but not very recently. Is there a certain time of year spider plants can be found. Should I try a local nursery? Thanks

They are one of the easiest to grow and widest available plants to find. I'm surprised that you are having difficulty. Yes, try a nursery or floral shop. They say that the spider plant gives off more oxygen than other houseplants, therefore, it is one of the best to have in your home. I've had the same plant (and offshoots) for over 35 years. Very hardy! (Btw, Peter, some stores call that shoplifting and will arrest you)

Check with WalMart Super Center, they had some the other day when I was there. I think going to a local nursery would cost you way too much, they are always expensive on their plants. Also, try this website,if there is one in your area.....www.Freecycle.org. It is a place where people post things they are no longer wanting or are looking for. The items are NEVER sold so are always FREE which makes it even better. Our local freecycle has plants on it all the time, also lots of people are thinning out their flower beds and giving away tons of plants right now. I got some edging bricks, and some plants just the other day myself. Good luck

Yes, they will have them INSIDE since they are not hardy. And to be honest...I usually scoop up the "babies" that fall off the plant, stick them in something else I'm buying, and head home. Once they fall off, and they're on the floor, they'll just be thrown out. These babies turn into the full-fledged plant in a matter of months.

Check any place that sells flowers, they are inside plants, although in the summer I hang mine out it really does great.

I could divide mine and mail one to you! The one I have now is an offspring of one I was given 30 years ago. How's that for love?

find a friend with a spider plant and take one of the plants babies, then repot it and let it grow
